Thanks, Din After sitting here for hours reading your guys' posts and thinking about them, I just... how does the quote go... "stood on the shoulders of giants" to come up with my thoughts...

Honestly, there IS an Outdoors and Fieldcraft forum here. Why not post off topic threads there??? Theres a few threads in this area that really belong there anyhow. Its not a big deal folks, this site wont die if you just talk about Wauseon blades, really it wont.

When I went to bed last night I wondered what I would read in this post in the am. I'm torn. I recognize that this is Dan's house. His house his rules. I also recognize that this is by name a Scrap Yard Forum. Some one mentioned earlier that off topic posts on other forums are moved, and I understand that. I've come to see the yard as more than just a manufacturer's forum, but a place to come home to.
When I first got turned onto high quality knives from the Busse family I spent most of my time reading posts over at BF. Once I started reading and contributing here I basically stopped reading BF other than to pop on to see if anything interesting has come up for sale. I saw this as a much friendlier alternative to BF.
This was a place I could come and learn about knives and steel and related topics. I love knives. Love them Love them Love them. I think most people here are the same. Scrap Yard knives are definately my favorite. I think most people here are the same as well. I hope this blows over quickly and we can move past this.

That was very well stated Diceman, and I'm sure the thoughts of many others as well. I sincerely hope that this forum remains the wonderful place it has always been, where all of us knife-loving folks can get together as "family" and discuss just about anything as long as it is "family friendly". We have all shown restraint and respect for Dan and his company; I hope that Dan will reconsider his stance and reciprocate in kind. Long live the Yard! Tom

I am right behind you. I have boughten every cg scrap yard available. I have never hurt the bussiness of busse., and Jarry himself states on his web site he hopes you buy more brands than his as there are alot of great knives out there. if anything I have told others to come here but for the most part i will have to bow out.

Building a good community is hard. Kudos to Dan and Patty for having done an extraordinary job of it, here at the Yard.
Messing up a good community is easy. Destruction is always easier than creation.
Rebuilding a good community after it has been messed up is much harder. Dan, you have something really valuable here. Valuable in itself, for everybody here. Valuable for Scrap Yard Knives, as an aid to selling your product. Please don’t – you should pardon the expression – screw the pooch.

Dice has made an excellant point and LeatherDog as well. I am dedicated to the Yard and Busse but one of the things that I look forward to is the opinions that people have with other knives as well as long as it is civil. We should never and have never got out of control and I have never seen any heated debates. We all have various interests that help us all when we need advice. As long as we do not harm SYKW, and we don't then I see nothing wrong.
Dan has been gracious with us and works hard to bring us all steel. It is not easy but they do their best! That is all we can hope for and that is what makes our knives worth it when we get them as well.
I do not want to see us losing people because of this and I think that we have already lost two if you count HornDog's post on page one and Scrappy just above me. I do not want the Yard to fall because of this.
Truth be told that no matter what we discuss we are very loyal and I think that it translates to the newcomers as well..... That is why you see so much action here, everyday. But unfortunately if that is taken away I am afraid that more will leave.
I for one am staying! I love the Yard and chatting with you guys! I have not been on here that much as I have been doing tons of local history research that in the end may make a bang! But I have also been busy modifying two cheap blades for my primitive kit that are in no way competition to SYKW and I will post picks later because you guys will love them!
We are the Yard! And the Junk Yard Dogs have set a great example for all of those who are not and that says something as well! On other forums people who have the highest title usually turn it into a click!
Believe me, when the new steel comes there will be nothing but posts about it and only it.
I hope this makes sense as I have not had any coffee yet!
