A tan/tan SS4 would be an awesome new knife. I know I'd buy one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Or maybe I'd buy two...and a spare. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

a tan ss4 would probably be a real hot ticket.

I bought one of the Swamp Wardens at Knob Creek; it's OK but doesn't thrill me. I'd decided to get one before going -- even while still at at the shoot, I had second thoughts. The grip is too small for me; although it's OK after a double wrap in 550 cord and it's small enough to carry in-town, but at least for me, it lacks that "Whoo Hoo!!" factor -- my high expectations were perhaps unreasonable. However, I'm carrying it because I don't care enough to keep it in mint condition rather than because I think it's my best fixed-blade EDC.

I wanted to follow up on this statement. Following the cord-wrap, my Swamp Warden has grown on me. I've been checking the Swamp Rat store for a while, and if I spot them for sale, I'll probably order a few more. I still don't consider it to be anywhere near the best knife that I own, but it's a useful little blade, made of good quality steel, and is a very good value at the release price.

I've seen a few SS4s that are "slightly used" (including one today that I'm trying not to buy) on the BF Exchange. I'm engaged in that nearly endless struggle to establish impulse control -- I backslid by buying Swamp Wardens yesterday, but I cannot, will not, "don't look at it" I say to myself, buy more Busse steel until the next billing cycle.

You and me both Jim! That struggle for impulse control is a difficult one to overcome!
