BUT if you sell it, than one more person will have had the amazing experience of using a dogfather. =] so you may make one person who has never had one *clears throat* a uge scrapyard fan. =]

you'll probably regret it actually, but how else will people like me get their hands on a dogfather. =]

I'm more of a collector than a user, Jerry. But I can tell you that the DF is one knife I won't part with. For me, the reason is simple. The DF represents the epitome of what Scrap Yard Knives stands for, "maximum performance to price ratio". It's the biggest, baddest knife I own. And I feel privileged to have one.

PS: Great video, Darn Norseman. Thanks.

i'm just the opposite. All my knives are users. And I realized when I got the DF that really big blades just aren't my thing. I've no complaints about the DF, I broke even on the transaction when I resold it, and learned from the experience.

Medium sized blades, or unique blades are my soft spot. I'll never part with my RatMAnDu, S-6, Yard Guard, Crash Axe etc....

Hey Dogs. I hope things are going good over here in the yard.

Anyway, I have been agonizing over the thought of selling my Dog Father. Even though it would be to fund more INFI. The DF just feels so perfect to me. So I decided that I'd give it a day or two and if no one jumped on it in the exchange on BF then it was meant ot stay here with me.

That being said I decided to give it a little test on a 2x4. It still has the factory edge and coating. I was able to chop through a 2x4 in 14 chops. It shaved hair before and after. And when I say after I mean after chopping through a 2x4 4 times in a row. I think that is good.

I plan on stripping this beast and giving it a scotch-brite satin finish tomorrow. And perhaps thin the edge just a tad. I have to say, the DF is the baddest mofo I have used so far.

Nice video...ScrapYard kives are designed to be used and you did a nice job.

Work that Dog like it was meant to be.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Dan. And thanks for such a beast! I had one right after they first came out. Used it. Then sold it to grab a quick "impulse" deal on a chunk of INFI. I hated my self the next day because the DF felt so awesome in the hand. Now I admit, I am usually more into micarta handles (just a preference) as many of the Res-C handles just feel a tad small. It's probably all in my head. But the DF handle feels perfect. And the balance is 2nd to none. IMHO. As thick as it is, it feels super light. You worked some magic on that bad boy. Keep'em comming.

Note: I may be shot for treason back at the trough but the DF is my favorite chopper so far.

I remember when the DF was released too.

I remember watching everybody frantically putting in their orders and being excited about a big bad knife coming their way.

But, I also remember (at the time) the DFLE was to be released shortly after and I remember "knowing" I would prefer a DFLE and would probably just pass on the CG DF so I could get the DFLE ...... That was a long time ago..... I have been waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... and now I am getting concerned about whether it is really coming or not and what the actual price may be.

Conversely, when the DM was released, there was no indicated reason to believe an LE version was coming. When the S6 and DF were released, it was known (???????? ) that that there would be a LE version.
So, I purchased the DM and spent a lot of time and effort stripping and polishing mine to make it satin.

Then the DMLE came.

I don't really have much need or justification for the DMLE now that I have stripped mine.
I don't have much regret for purchasing the DM and stripping it myself. I actually like the uniqueness of the super thick blade of the CG DM.

*** And at $60.00 less than the LE, the CG DM was a much better deal IMO.
I am sorry to see that either prices are going up dramatically or that LE versions are just generally being given a high premium.

I am very glad that Dan has released a few LE models - I guess.......

And I "guess" I hope the trend to release LE versions of each model continues.... although based on $60.00 premiums for LE's - I am not so sure.

But, I guess I wish they would be released together so I would know what my options are.

I know I am sorry to see the LE prices are so much more than the CG versions.

Unfortunately for me, if $60.00 is the standard increase for CG to LE on a 5" knife and possibly more for larger knives, then I may have to reconsider future LE purchases. I may have to start looking for a good deal on a DF on the secondary market - probably a user at a user price.

Somehow things are working out a little backwards for me here???? ....

You would be way better off grabing a Chopwieler now than trying to find a DF on the secondary market. I sold my DF to pay for a WW2 FS Dagger and because the
DFLE was coming soon. I made over 100$ on the DF and still flt bad about it.
I even offered to buy it back plus a little extra and he just laughed.

I like the HookGuard better than the DF though. It is better looking ,better balanced and is a handier size plus the recurve makes it chop like a bigger blade.
The Hoker and SS4 are the 2 I would never sell.

Unsub,

I am very interested in the Chopweiler. But, there are significant differences between the Chopweiler and DF. The Chopweiler will be a good chopper, but DF is going to still be able to chop circles around the Chopweiler.

I had one of the last runs of the original Ratweiler, but I was dissappointed that they changed the scales on the last run. The scales used to be pretty decent on the Ratweiler and certain other knives. But, the scales on the last run were ugly, last contoured, less quality in finish and not as comfortable. I had the Rat Mastiff to compare.
Unfortunately, it looks like they brought back the cheap and ugly scales for the Chopweiler. I was hoping for better. The HRLM and RMD had decent scales. The angled grooves and more contouring.

I am hoping they will release a Chopweiler with G10 as the G10 on the RMD had a much higher level of finish. I would very likely like the Chopweiler with G10.

However, things are VERY tight for me financially right now. Any knife purchase is going to have to be severely scrutinized for me right now. I am selling a bunch of knives to help pay for bills and would have to sell even more to justify more purchases. The knife purchases will have to be just right at this time.

I also have two SS4's. I had three and sold one. I love that knife too much to get rid of it. It is currently (easily) my favorite Scrap Yard knife. I am confident the SS4 is more valuable to me than a DF would be!

I like the Hooker, but minus the hook. I have no use for the actual hook and knew this prior to purchasing. So, I bought the Yard Guard.

I do like the Yard Guard quite a bit. It is probably my second favorite as far as what I own.

But, the Dog Father really is the ultimate chopper and I would like one.
Now, I sort of wish I had picked up one at their original price. But, as I mentioned, I thought the LE would be right on it's heels. So, I passed and since the LE has never been released and we don't really even know if it will be released, I may have screwed myself. (with a little help by being misled ).

Even if they do release the DFLE, now I am concerned about how much it will be sold for.

.

I think your kinda missin the point bro, the main thing about the LE is the Flat grind which will make it a much better cutter than the Sabre version the coating or lack of etc makes little difference to me as that wears off anyway !!!
