Everybody that REALLY wanted a warden has one. that's why they're not selling. market saturation. but even if the buyer sells at cost, the fact that he had 20 GW's at one time is unnecessary to the final buyer. had busse offered these as a regular item we wouldn't see these prices. and since it seems busse made a ton of these wardens i see no reason why they weren't offered as a regular item to begin with.

The Game Warden is a special offering through the Busse Company Store. That is why they aren't a "regular" production offering per se. Just like Randall does with Dealer Specials, Busse has done with the various Game Wardens, Heavy Hearts, Fat Outlaws, Mole Jacks and whatever else Skunk collaborates with Jerry on in the future. I believe this distinction makes the difference when considering the relative rarity of the Game Wardens at least when they first came out.

Yours in tangential membership.

This is all a moot point now that Dan has posted the knife with pics on Blade Forums. Forget the Hogs, every tom dick and Harry is now going to be ordering them, so good luck. And yes, you can bet that now you will get the unscrupulous buyers who are doing it just to make money. If you see an order for 20 you know it's not to collect. All you have to do is cross reference the BF member with how often he posts in the exchange. If most of his posts are in the exchange, then you know he is strictly money motivated.

I agree with PG, but there is nothing that can be done.

Dan, I sure hope you made enough DF's after posting that thread on BF, since you have now increased the competition for your regulars 10 fold.

you missed my point. the game warden was made in sufficient numbers that it could have been made available as a regular item. why was it a BCS item only? not only that, the game warden is a different pattern. the heavy heart is just a fat FSH, the mole jacks were just a SJT with a special edge, the model t was an intermediate thickness MS, etc.

now you have this NEW knife that is hard to get because of the scalpers and a LOT of demand. what does this create? the perfect recipe for high resale values. the same thing happened with the swamp specials like the dog skinner, rat hunter, SAR rat, rat mastiff and rat daddy. NEW patterns, LOW inventory leads to HIGH resale values.

now the problem is that enough of these items (except maybe the dog skinner) were made and the demand was obviously high enough that it could have easily been a production item and could have easily sold ALL that they made. but they were not made again. and people went without these patterns that will never be offered again. that's the problem.

i understand if something like the custom shop SOW variant or the military overrun EU-17 are hard to get and they should be, BUT what prevents the company itself from selling a sure thing? when the "test" run of a knife sells out in MINUTES and there are 100+ people complaining that they didn't get one, why wouldn't you make it a regular item?

this comes off as critical to the company but it astounds me how such a successful company with military contracts and products that sell out in minutes cannot increase production...unless of course they don't want to... conspiracy? you decide...

No.

From what I know about military contracts: they are very unstable. Some days, the armies (naval, ground, marine, air) don't order anything. Some days, they order a hell lot of things in a very short time so that the company can't supply this sudden demand.

By keeping the company small, they can survive from low demand during days, weeks or months.

Small history about GPS: During the Gulf War, the armies wanted to buy many military grade GPS (before 2000, the military signal was far more accurate than civilian signal) but companies weren't able to supply this demand.

So, the President ordered the NAVSTAR GPS to stop the Selective Availability (SA), the 'engine' in which it alters the civilian signal so the GPS is not accurate in 100 meters range, to avoid the terrorist attack.

By shutting off the SA, the Army could use the civilian GPS during the Gulf War, because it was as accurate as military-grade GPS.

Of course, at the end of the war, the SA was re-activated until 2000.

Hope you understand the big disadvantage of military contracts. That's why military-oriented compagnies sells stuffs to the civilians in order to survive during low periods.

I can be wrong, but this is what I understood in this domain.
