...My analogy?? The Orange GW is pretty much the only Busse that I would really like to get...Did I miss them at the BCS?? Yup sure did

Am I willing to pay inflated prices to get one?? Nope wont do it

THAT is the line that I have drawn for ME.....

BOWIE!!

-Thats your choice and right, but may i suggest you: Trade bro, Trade like the wind (btw, i have posted several times that the Hunter Orange is my favorite as well, i have only sold one of them, (as a mild blem at slashed rate). All the rest are 100% keepers for me- Grab one if you can, they are awesome..

-The Knife forums in general are proving to be (generally) stocked with some very fine and decent people. I have consistanty found this in all of my $$ dealings thus far (purchases and sales)...

-My first scrapper just came (S6), just minutes ago. I love my SwampRats with ResC, but am kinda on the fence on their new LM models (mischief6). Just a quick once over, the S6 has a much thicker blade/spine, but feels lighter in the hand (much less metal under grip?)... Blade cuts are otherwise the same (shape), thickness and exposed blade are different (as the grip sits more foward on the M6). Either way, the S6 is my keeper, now i will likely sell my M6 (My name is Ironballs, and I am a ResC addict.)
Thank goodness to secondary market, Got a knife i want, and now feel great about SY quality and will order my DogFather with NoRegrets!

heck, speaking of secondary market, I just paid 225 for a used howling fat (they sold new for $98? about 2 years ago)... but i was glad to pay it, and will beat her often- Secondary market is a blessed double edged sword imo, and I am glad to be neck deep in it...

Speak of the devil...

I had no idea Scrap Yard was over here until Guyon dragged me in here by posting my photos here and causing my PM box over on Blade Forums to fill up.
Now that I know about it I'm going "need" about 35-40 of of these big choppers.

And Guyon... with me and two cats in the house I find that I need at least 9,500 SQ FT in the city to get any peace. The summer home is smaller because I can let the cats out since they can't cross the property and make it to public road without water. Also unlike dogs, they won't jump into the pool and SPA and gross out the swim suit models and try and hump them before I do.

I'm not a .50 fan I like the 6BR, very accurate with no political issues.

I am personally buying Scrap Yard Knives for myself, NOT to resell them.

I like the idea of the pre-order thing.

I agree that the secondary market is important, Ironballs. Knives appear there for sale and trade long after they're out of production, usually at highly inflated prices. But at least they're available to those who can afford them. And that's the key . . . to those who can afford them. Scrap Yard Knife Company was founded upon bringing Busse blades to those who could otherwise NOT afford them. Forcing its customers to go to the secondary market to purchase its products at exaggerated prices defeats the very principle upon which the company was built.

Scrap Yard doesn't force its customers to do anything. They DO provide exceptional blades at an affordable price and everyone has an EQUAL CHANCE to get them. I disagree with the idea that it's SYK's responsibility to ensure that YOU get one.

I can understand someone being frustrated by missing out on the purchase of a knife, and I admit that I have even been bitter toward those who did. But if you want a blade, take responsibility for yourself to get one.

BTW, this post sounds argumentative, that's not intended.

IMHO, the only responsibility Scrap Yard has is to maintain its own ethic. And the notion that everyone will have an EQUAL CHANCE to get one without a vast inventory or some kind of management on the front end is arguable, to put it mildly.

I suspect many will try to do just that. Whether or not they're successful depends on a number of factors, most of which exist on Dan & Patti's side of the fence.

So first come first served is unfair? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I'm interested to hear the reasoning.

The solution is VERY simple. have the models available to ORDER for a reasonable period of time. obviously i'm overlooking the technical production aspects of all this BUT if busse/swamp/scrap make the models available to order anytime then we will NOT see these insanely high secondary market prices.

i'm NOT saying to have them IN STOCK because that may be impossible BUT to be available to ORDER. even if i have to wait 6-12 months, i'd like the ability to order one at the MSRP and wait. If i wanted it right away then i can buy from the secondary market BUT that puts the ball in MY court. I make the decision to wait or to spend more and not wait. with the current system, if i want a GW i will have to pay 50-100 over MSRP. unfortunately i have a job and one that doesn't include going to the BCS on company time either...

it's no wonder that the models with the least markup are the ones that were available to order or were preorder items. if you missed the boat on those then well nothing you can do about it except pay more if you really want it. example of these are the now "rare" SFNO, AD, LMS, etc. the point is that it's a matter of wrong place wrong time, NOT a matter of somebody buying 35 GW's and you with not even 1....

BUT herein lies the problem. it seems busse WANTS high secondary market prices. many a time has jerry himself mentioned that high secondary market prices are a perk to owning a busse. the "buy it, use it, sell it at cost or even more" mentality DRIVES the secondary prices UP. i'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but this is the way i see it. change occurs from the TOP. look at the Scrapper6, M6 and HR LM secondary market prices...LOW!!! why? because you can still get them or at least more are slated to come. this is a welcome change in scenery!!! the same cannot be said about the GW. they are sparingly available and when available, are ripe for the resellers to pick... i still don't understand why the GW was never a production item. they have certainly made enough to sell to everybody. instead it has turned into THE example of how messed up the BCS system is... it's like an extravaganza everyday.

at what point does this turn from a "devastating the trough" joke into the company turning a blind eye to it's customers??? has it already done so???

end rant
