Again, I agree with a lot of your intention and maybe even the plan that has been brought up. What I disagree with is the implication that Scrap Yard runs an unfair system. This implies some sort of preferential treatment which, frankly, I don't see. Everyone has the same warning of when the knives will go up - everyone has the same process to go through and order them - everyone has the same chance to get them.


I totally agree.

You know, Swamp Rat used to have a different system. A variety of knives available for sale at any time. "Busses for the masses" as you said. Ideally, it would be the solution that you're hoping for. But orders were coming in for Ratweilers faster than they could make them. Their machines would be committed toward only making one knife in order to try to keep up and no new models could possibly be made. It got to the point where people waited over a year before they ever got their knives. People complained about wait times and criticized Swamp Rat saying that it was "unfair" and "bad business". When SR snuck in a special batch of knives, people complained that they weren't taking care of their orders.

It is obvious that providing Busse's at these bargain retail prices is one heck of an undertaking. It has resulted in a massive-scale demand. This either results in enormous waiting times (and complaints) or will result in a short availability time (and complaints).

Wow, I hope you don't think I actually recommended something so horrible. I just added that in as one possible way to equalize supply and demand.

Given the choices, I'd much rather hear complaints about having a short window of opportunity to get these blades at a low retail price than hearing complaints about having to pay what they're actually worth to get them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

It's very refreshing to see Dan & Patti "down in the bleachers" talking with the end users. THAT is Very Rare these days! You can't put a price on that.

Every company has their way of doing things.. that's what makes this country so great. Sal Glesser is another great knife maker who listens, improves/evolves, and has a great following of end users.

I am GLAD I found Scrap Yard Knives.. the kind of performance found here simply cannot be attained anywhere else.. for this kind of price.

To have great folks like Dan & Patti behind it.. is a rare bonus!
