The cheapest way to S30V ownership is the Buck Hartsook. It is a great little knife and you can find them for 22$ online.

I am not a huge fan of S30V but I have 3 knives made of it. It is kind of hard to avaiod if you like nice knives. It is nice but it is difficult to get a decent edge although once you have one it stays sharp. It also does not polish worth a crap. Not my favourite steel but a good one.It is wasted on a lot of knives though and used as a marketing tool. If it is not hardened to 61 or 62 there is no real point using it but lots of knife companies like Kershaw use it underhardened because it helps sell knives to use a hot steel. It is also better in smaller knives 4 inch blades or under.

The Surefire knives are excellent but a bit overpriced because of the brand name.
I like their fixed blade a lot though.

I used to own a Surefire Alpha. Good knife but it never really grew on me.

I handled one before, check around for my thread on "Mini Meet & Greet", there's a pic ther...

heavy, chunky, weird blade shape. I would not touch it with a ten foot pole... but then again, to each his own... it just doesn't do it for me.. plus a custom folder can be gotten for that price or less..

I like my 6$ Fenix knife better if we are talking about torch blades.
