I would go with the Tramontonia ,RMD and a SwampWarden or INFI skelly if you hasve one.

I can get by fine with nothing but my HookGuard. It will also work great for clearing shooting lanes if I decide to hunt with my new bow.

The Bear knife and one of those cool little Condors would be a nice combo for HornDog. The double edged Condor is small enough to carry in a small pack and still big enough for serious brush clearing and can cut on both strokes.

I don't have any really small fixed blades yet, but the SAK stays. The other suggestions sound good, though. I like the way you think, Unsub. Thanks for the ideas.

I am surprised you did not order a SwampWarden HornDog?

I regret not getting a black one(I got a Muddy and 2 Sage)but then i would have needed a OD.

Have you checked out some of the new crossbows? They look like they would be a lot of fun.

I had read an article in one of the Outdoor/backing magazines that recommended this knife based on weight and durability. Anyone have any experience with it?

I agree. We need to save as much of our wild land as possible, or there won't be any left. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Amen to that!

There should be a little tree hugger in all of us.

Especially if we like to use those choppers from time to time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I like the design alright but I hate all those serrations myself... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> A plain blade would be nice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

There's several Bucks I really like all except that I think they go overboard with the serrations... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Some people like serrations ,they are very popular with military purchasers which is why people like Chris Reeve who know better still offer them
I do like some classic spydercos like the Police and Civilian with full serrations.

I should have gotten a sage one and had Jeff make me a combo sheath for it and the RW, but my judgement was blinded by shiny DMLEs. I'm more of a folder guy in the sub-4" blades anyway. I tried out some of your combo suggestions, substituting the SAK for the SW.

But after seeing how tough SR77 really is, and since I may be alone in a wild place, I'd prefer a knife that cannot fail.

i have a on again off again relationship with serrations. i have the police full serrations and love it. but sometimes the serattions get in the way, and i wish i had clean blade.

No, but it looks rugged to me. As you know, before I started buying Busse-made knives, I used Camillus, Ontario, Cold Steel, and Ka-Bar a lot.

I have a reprofiled Yard Guard that I have done quite a bit of whacking in my yard with. I did not use it in the Ratweiler comparison because it has been heavily redone. It is lighter than the RW, strong as a Scrapper 6, big enough to use as a mini-machete, and has a pig-sticking point. When I put all that gear on with the Winchester, it was too much. Yes, I decided to carry the .44 magnum Win instead of a 357 mag revolver. There are some big hogs down there and big game season is in. So, I think my combo will be the YG, SAK, Voyager, and Winchester. Light, and easy carrying. Not too much stuff, but enough.

While I had it out, I played with the Condor Combat machete some. I used the back edge to split some kindling.

I know its only 420HC, but this is a tough knife. Noss will need to do a test on some of these!
