I have spent over 100 for my emerson folder. and having carried it now for a few months, it was worth every penny. for fixed blades the most expensive i've bought were the SS4 and AD. Paid 200 for each of them. (SS4 was in the after market)

I've spent over $500 - on my CGFBM w/ blue G10 mag grips - plus shipping.

I don't think I'd ever spend over $200 on a folder. There are a lot of excellent folders out there for that kind of money - getting more expensive than that means that I'm probably wanting that folder to do something that a fixed blade should be doing.

My FFBM was the most expensive, and wil be the last one at anywhere near that level. Scrappers and Rangers for me.

I voted $300 for a fixed and $200 for a folder. My reasoning is pretty simple- Dan made the DF for $140, sheath $20 shipping $40= $200 what the hell is he going to do that costs more than that- as I don't buy LE's? $200 will get any multitool, my preferred folder type.

My Badger did blow the $300 including shipping, Rainwalker's great leather and import taxes (boo!). Oh well you live and learn!

I ended up choosing a limit of over $1000 for a fixed-blade. I'm including swords as fixed blades; I've seriously considered spending over a grand on a sword, and perhaps someday I'll drink that kool-aid. I know that swords aren't practical, but the biggest advantage to being single is that you don't need anyone's permission to buy whatever you want.

As far as folders go, I've spent more than $100 more often than I'd care to admit, but I don't ever see myself going over $200. My opinion is that a folder is semi-disposable. If you ever attract a cop's attention, there's a fair likelihood that he'll seize it. I've also had things fall out of my pockets, although I can't recall actually losing a knife in the last decade -- I lost a set of keys but have only misplaced knives because they've always turned up later. Still, anything that I carry won't be something that I can't accept losing.

1000$+ for both fixed and folders. I like knives way more than money. I have no debt and very little in the way of expenses(thanks Mom)so I can spend 70% of my income on toys. So far the most I have paid for a knife is 500$ for a WW2 FS Dagger but if I found a good deal on a Loveless or a Hogstrom and had the cash I would buy it. On the wrong side of 500$ I have different rules though. It would have to be an reasoanble investment as well as something that spoke to me.

Here is a rather pricey user probably a bit under a grand. The Winkler comp bowie is beautiful supurbly balanced and similar to our next Scrapper the DFLE.

Check out the balance. Can a stack of bills really compare to this?

Exotic materials and beautiful hamons in this Hogstrom. How exotic? Fossilized waluraus penis!

Their are knives that give you insight into another culture like this custom Pukko set.

I have always wanted a nice Fowler. Check out the lines on this one.

I love antiques. This Price Bowie is worth more than my truck.

One of the best investments in blades are euro swords. They have been undervalued for a long time and people are starting to value their heritage again. One good hollywood movie and chching$.

How much do you think a Soviet ballistic knife(blade shoots out of the handle) is worth?

This is Fairbains personal Shanghai dagger.
