How much is the CG version going to be?
I really want one now that I have seen HD's and I think everyone needs at least 1 Busse.

I did not like my M6. I have tiny hands and the weight was off. I loved Duanes sheath though. I much prefer my Hooker.

I would like to see a comparison with some pics between the S6LE and the Muttly.
They are both shiny full height grinds one 5 inch and the other 6 inch.

I wasn't that crazy about the M6 either, Unsub, until I used it. It is heavy and the S6 has better balance, but it chops very well and is rugged. If you have small hands, the Busse would fit better. The ASH-1 is a very nice all around knife. It's the best machete of the lot here. And it is easily the prettiest. It's not for sale. Too beat up now!

As far as comparing the S6LE to the DMLE, we already know which one will win the chopping part. The DMLE's virtue, to me, is the compact size in such a hard use knife.

I hope the CG ASH-1 is reasonably priced for those of you who want one. It is a great knife.

Jerry Busse is just offering to do in the shop what many hogs, rats, and dogs do to their knives anyway. I'd rather have a wicked convex edge than a fancy paint job, but its nice to have the option. I hope that if this goes through, all the Busse Knife Group companies can offer it. It's obvious to me that Busse has been paying attention to their customers and is trying to offer what they want. It reminds me of Willie G. Davidson of Harley-Davidson, developing factory customs and stripped down choppers based on what some customers have done with their Harleys. It's a good idea, IMO.

Hah! Hiding in the palmettos again. If it was still Summer you'd have a bunch of chigger bites!

Chiggers, hah! My body is alloy, tougher than SR-77, they can't bite me no matter how hard they try.

PS You should see what a wicked edge I can achieve.

I am concerned about what the price may be for the DFLE - if there ever is a DFLE (????).

But, I am hopefull about further improvements on factory edges (????).

.

Since there was an 87% price increase for the DMLE compared to the regular DM then the DFLE will likely cost around 240.00 (241.23 to be exact). This assumes that the work involved into making a knife into a limited edition is the same from knife to knife.

It's likely that since the DF is such a beast anyway that the cost are going to be greater when going to the LE. This is just a guess and specualtion on my part though. In the end it'll cost what it cost.

If the DFLE costs nearly that much, I will have to pass and wish everyone else happy spending.

Sorry, but I have my limits and won't be sucked into "it 'll cost what it costs".
Some of these prices are just getting way out of hand IMO. Maybe I should start making knives.....

At that price or even close to that, I will find it in me to be satisfied with my Battle Rat or hunt for a good user CG DF. My Battle Rat is a fine knife.

Based the following prices:

Satin Battle Rat with differentially heated SR-101 - $198.95

CG Battle Rat - $148.95

CG DF - $139.95

I was sort of hoping for $179.95 and max $189.95.

Even then, I would still like to keep in mind this is just a big beater type knife with Res-C handles. Why should it cost so much?

.

I'm certainly not "in the loop", but the initial release of the Dumpster Mutt was at a substantial introductory discount. I'd have loved to have picked up a few at that price, but I was too late. So, I don't think that the DMLE/DM price ratio accurately reflects how much markup to expect on a DFLE.

Not that it'll happen, but I think that it would be very good if Dan could provide an estimate how much a DFLE would sell for before tooling up to produce them. I'd also like for an estimate to be provided for a DFCG re-release, and a poll of the yard taken to see which one folks would really prefer. That's a great departure from typical Busse-family marketing, but it seems to me that it could help Dan gauge how much demand there is.

I'm not a knife maker, but I do consider myself to be a somewhat creative sort, and personally, it would be a source of great frustration to me if I had made what I thought would be a big hit in the DMLE, only to have people complain as much as they have about it. I understand and even agree with many of the criticisms, but if you don't like it, don't buy it. I bought a couple, even though I didn't need them because I'd bought 5 RMDs, simply because I think that they're better the original DM, and DMLEs sold for about the same as DMs were on the secondary market.

I'm sure that more CG model Scrappers are on the way. Hopefully, some Urban Mutts. While I like INFI, SR77 seems to do everything I want in a non-stainless steel. So which 5" Busse sold for $129.95? The DMLE is a very nice knife for a Busse-made at that price. The Ratmandu was a little more than that wasn't it? Anyway, there are lots of options available on the market. I can't remember a time when so many high quality knives were on the market as there are today.

I intend to pass on the DFLE regardless of the cost. I know the DF is very popular among us, however, it just didn't do it for me. Medium blades (5-8 inches) are really my soft spot.

Until the Ratweiler, I thought all choppers had to have at least 9" blades. I am very pleased that a 7.5" knife can chop so well. I hope SY makes one, but I would like a DFLE.

It may very well run much cheaper than that. I don't know what Dan will price the thing at, hence the term "it'll cost what it cost." I don't know what the formula is for a CG to LE knife. I'm guessing that the labor is much more intensive than we think. I simply took two known quantities and extrapolated a potential price based on the price difference between the DM and the DMLE.
