I think you're right Andy.
I don't know what the hangup is with the Atomic watches but I've heard several people say their watches and clocks were not picking up the signal. On the whole though, most still liked their inaccurate watches better than poo. I know I do. Maybe a poll is in order?

I met a gentleman from the UK once who told me the best way to size up a man when you first meet them is to check out the watch they wear and the pen they use. His belief was that it is a great indicator of the individual, in most cases I have found him to be somewhat correct, at least in a business setting.
What a great watch, good for you
Dan
I don't wear a watch. The pen I use usually comes from the last hotel I stayed in. I am pretty sure that says "I'm cheap!" but it allowed me to save enough to buy a DFLE.

I have a nice G-Shock but quit wearing it and just use my cell phone usually.
I totally believe in having as good quality accoutrements as you can afford. The Vikings would denote status by the quality of weapons ,gear and arm rings. It also makes sense to spend money on the stuff you use every day. I am going to have some silver arm rings made. I also like the new trend of using damascus and titanium for rings and jewellery.
I am also getting really into the idea of trying to only spend my money on things that will at least hold their value. Way to much of the stuff we buy becomes worthless in a couple years. Even big purchases like cars are worth a third less the moment we drive them off the lot. I love nice electronics but they are one of the worst things for losing value. I try to buy them after they go down but [censored] I want a nice TV.
Winter here means you spend a LOT of time indoors so it makes sense to have a decent home theatre but right now I have a 21 inch 100$ RCA. I have been considering a projector. I had a buddy's for a couple months and it was awesome.

Don't forget tungsten! That is what my wedding ring is made out of. Extremely hard & strong, plus it has a nice heft. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

In an emergency it could replace the elements in your toaster!

It will still keep time accurately without contacting the transmitter. I have never had any problems with my G-Shock not keeping accurate time.

I keep thinking that the most valuable possessions of a man are those that are ‘earned’ rather than those that are ‘bought’. The craftsmanship in a Rolex (or a fine blade) or the ingenuity in the design/manufacture of a G-Shock (or the sharpness of wit, or the keenness of intellect, or the degree of compassion, etc.) are all indicators of the quality of man more appropriate than the is the accidental inheritance of birth (see 'aristocrat'). BTW, thanks to this thread, I just found out that my favorite weekend watch has become 'highly collectable' in the last 28 years! It is a Casio 'Marlin' W-150, just like the one described here... http://www.gmtplusnine.com/2007/04/29/a-startling-archeological-discovery/ . Apparently it is the direct evolutionary ancestor of the G-Shock! My parents gave it to me for my 11th birthday as I recall.

Sounds like you found out just in time MTRSpeed that the worth of an entire person can be instantly and accurately judged by the labels on his attire. Inntelect and compasion are only important to the poor.
Seriously though most people do judge you by what you wear ,grooming etc and to a certain extent you can profile someone fairly well by how they choose to present yourself. Ideally what you want to do is dress so someone who is quite good at reading people in this way will think what you want him to think.
It is not about spending a lot of money but spending it in the right places. Considering I generally wear a pair of canadian army issue sweatpants a casio G-shock and an old Hoodie means it is not important to me what others think. When I want I am good at making a first impression. The right gear and confidence even if you are scared wittless fake confidence will work fine.

A tungsten wedding ring? That's pretty cool! Never knew there was such a beast. Until now, I thought titanium was the manliest wedding ring material.
