i don't. it doesn't have the zero edge and will lack a few of the ounces in the cg. the lack of a coating will give it more fluidity in the media you chop, and as far as cutting, why care? i'll always use a smaller knife for cutting, the sheer mass will not lend itself to slicing, shaving, peeling, or anything else you should be doing with a sak, mora, delica, or 110.
this is a pretty, rubber handled, hatchet/wrecking bar.

(Theoretically!!) It will outchop the CG as there will be less friction due to the satin blade, it will have a thinner profile again reducing friction and the zero edge will be very very sharp so it bites deep. It (LE) will be a bit lighter (good!) than the CG but it will outperform it mechanically. S7 is as tough as hell so the slightly thinner LE stock will be almost irrelevant strength wise, Noss won't easily be able to break it..

flat ground doesn't mean it has a zero edge. i'm pretty sure the dog father won't. dan wanted to keep costs down.

if it had a zero edge, he'd be sure to mention that. the yard has released other LE's without zero edges.
just look at the image he posted. you can see the second bevel clearly.

I think the thicker CG ASH-1 with magnum handles might chop better than mine. I prefer the S6 or M6, even though the Busse is just beautiful. The Ratweiler is the mid-sized chopper king IMO. If all you want is a pure monster chopper, get a fat FBM. I think the new DFLE will be a great all-around big chopper, but that is just my opinion. I'd be willing to bet that it chops as well as the original DF, and will probably be quicker in the hand for those times when you are slashing through vines and brush. If you want something smaller, get the ratweiler. If you want the cheapest possible big chopper, buy a machete.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

machette!? never again! i was chopping down small trees trees with my CS magnum machette and the handle destroyed my hands! they were rubbing and chaffing and they starting growing bubbles and bleeding!(I was wearing gloves too!) and that machette chops pretty good, but in the cold it ate my hands alive. I had to do it, i was helping my uncle, and I couldn't use an axe where i was(too close) if there was anything i wish i had at that moment was the dogfather, I couldn't help but think of that soft comfy res-c.
sure wish i had one.

Can't wait for the field testing, but I imagine that the DF LE will be a fantastic chopper! Shiney too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
