i sample lots of thimbleberries on the way to fishing spots. i find that i have to get them 'just right' or they aren't my favorite.

The Wonderland Trail has 20,000 feet of elevation change.

I suppose blueberries and huckleberries do have greater tolerance in terms of still tasting good when they're not ripe, yet.

I love taking Miss I. on local (blackberry) berry picking walks.

you're right, of course. just grabbed the trail guide which claims 95.2mi/20k feet of elevation. not sure why i recollected 70.

So many trails, so many places to go, so many things to see.

I'd like to do the full Pacific Crest Trail, too. My ex hiked it, and I slackpacked a lot of it, as her support team.

I want to hike the Continental Divide Trail, too.

Maybe also the American Discovery Trail, if they ever make it into a real trail.

But not the Appalachian Trail.

wow. you're ex must be nails. i've done a couple hundred miles of the pct (one week a year) all in CA. i'm thinking of doing another section next summer, probably the king's canyon section. CDT would be nice. perhaps the Tahoe Rim Trail as a shorter alternative.

The Kings Canyon section is fabulous.

I hiked most of the Tahoe Rim Trail, back before it was official. Splendid.

My ex is super awesome. She hikes like a mountain goat.
