bld522's got a point.. The Jeep Story.. increased every Camp Tramp's value by like a lot.
He shoulda got pictures of the Jeep at the junkyard.
In fact he shoulda sold the whole [censored] Jeep to SwampRat.. he coulda got a lot of steel for it.
Then SwampRat coulda parked that Jeep on their front lawn as a monument.

bld522,
You have a well-stocked bug-out bag then!

Yep.. it's those tragedies/near-tragedies that really make people think/re-evaluate their stuff, plans, etc.

It's good that those stories make the rounds.. could save someone some day.

I prefer the scrapper's blade thickness and full flat grind. At the price the Camp Tramp is going for nowadays, you can buy two scrappers and still have change leftover for a few beers.

i'm hardly qualified to answer this question as i have neither of the aforementioned knives but i would like to exposit my opinion that if you're buying a knife out of necessity you'd do better to avoid the chopper. my main chopper is a 17" him imp and as knife guy said, choppers are best in combination with a smaller knife. considering this, gravelface is right. if you're gonna get a chopper, go all out and get a big bad one like the dog father if you're gonna do without wieldability anyway. it's still less than a camp tramp....and so wicked awesome. keep you favorite smaller fixed or folding knife in the pocket or on the belt and you're all set! so the real question: scrapper six or dog father?

or just buy em all, seems diver316ss intends to sell his. try the PM.

I own both of the blades you are considering and I love them both. I don't think you could go wrong with either of them. I would not hesitate to go into the woods with either. But, if I had to choose I would take a Battle Rat.

I would still choose the scrapper. I would survive, and still have the more attractive looking bang for the buck knife when it was all over. Then, I could tell stories of the amazing cherokee jeep rescue, starring my scrapper 6 LE, and my survival shelties!

bld522,
Interesting "What If" scenario.. kinda creepy.. ::shudders::

I need a coffee refill.. too much thinking, too early in the morning.

One thing's for sure.. I'll never choose any el cheapo knife like Cold Steel!

the way these Scrap/Swamp/Busse knives perform has really changed my view about knives!

Yes bld,
With all 3 of the Wauseon companies.. us consumers can really own the Best that money can buy!
It's a good feeling.

Even more so with ScrapYard.. I *really* want to see some rough & tough Cliff Stamp testing of these Scrap knives! Car hood chop-off contests.. all that crazy stuff!

In other words, if you were aware of the Jeep story, found yourself in precisely the same circumstances Featherstone did back in January 2004, and were offered a choice of one knife to dig yourself out of your Jeep, a Scrapper 6 or a Camp Tramp, you'd choose the Scrapper 6?
No. What I said was that I think either the Camp Tramp or the Scrapper 6 would serve you equally well. But, if I had to choose only one it would be a Battle Rat.

Translation: I would trust my life to a Battle Rat before I would to either of the two you are considering.
