I am unbelievably sore from several days playing with a 1 year old and a 4 year old.

Yup. the snow was packed down to ice about 5 inches thick.

However nothing compared to trying to tire out a 1 year old and a 4 year old! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

This is probably a really dumb question from a kid who grew up in a hot desert area, but: Why not melt the 5 inch thick ice off the walkway with hot water?

The cement walkway itself is still extremely cold & the nights are still well below zero. The snow would melt & then the whole lot would freeze as solid ice! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

Is there anything like central heating or like an electric blanket that you arctic dwellers can get built into your walkways?

Probably, however the power required to keep it warm enough not to freeze would be insane! Not sure how much power it would take to heat a 25' walkway to above zero when the air temp is well below -40

Oh, well. Perhaps dig a walkway tunnel under the snow. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Mike - did you try the Blue Cheese and Dried Apricot yet? I was just having some Gorgonzola and Apricots on Ritz, and a bunch of wine <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> (some Black Swan - Australian and relatively cheap, pretty nice merlot for the money, though!).
