So how far did it bend and go back to normal?

I took the knife to 32 degrees and it sprung back to true. It may have gone farther and sprung back to true, but we did not test it for "return to true" after the 32 degree mark. Also realize that this knife tested out at 59.2 rockwell.

You should also realize that I park in at just about 300lbs and pulling just on the handle (no pry-bar) I could only get it to bend to 20 degress.

With the 4ft pry-bar and one of our guys coming in at 250 lbs doing the bend developed arm tremors that lasted for almost an hour after the photo shoot.

As I told you earlier, you will simply be amazed at the toughness and performance of this knife.

Did the DF return to true after that bend?

Also is it differentially tempered? It has to be. I can't imagine a through hardened knife surviving that kind of bend.

Simply amazing. I think for the first time in my life, I may actually purchase more than one of the same model knife when it comes out.

I believe SwapRats are differently tempered

The Dog Father is through hardened.

You know that I am all about performance and I have to admit that these test even blew me away. To deliberately take a knife beyond any conceivable punishment that could occur in the field is a bit insane, but fun.

At $139.95, absolutely no one can touch the performance to cost ratio.

The Dogs Rule!

Dan you have excelled yourself! There won't be much (frankly anything) that comes close to that monster! Just superb! That could be THE ultimate field knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

HOLY SMOKES!!

Just the fact that the knife DIDN'T BREAK is AmaZING!

You can see the 4' solid steel bar Bending TOO!

just.. W O W !

::speechless::

We all wear face shields and everyone not involved with the test is moved outside the shop. When a piece of steel is bent to this degree and is 59.2 Rockwell you have the potential to generate a bunch of shrapnel...no such luck.

During our test we actually snapped one of the bolts holding the pry-bar on. That should give you some idea of how much energy is being applied. Think about the toughness, the bolt was sheared but the tang remained complete and unaffected.

The Dog should have fun with this bad boy
