Words of the wise to those planing on making micarta.

The stuff hardens quick.
It smells bad.
It heats up as it cures(really hot).
Dont aim to make thick scales because your resin will dry before you can finish.
Pour slow because you will run out.
Buy extra hardener because you will use a fourth of your resin and all your hardener.
Be careful.

Today I got the new Grillin Beans from Bush (Steakhouse Recipe), pretty tasty, not bad at all. I could only find 3 different one's though, I thought there were more, maybe they were just out. They do taste different than the other's Bush makes, would recommend though at least the one's I got. Happy 4th to all.

I'm bored. My wife's at work 'til 8 PM EST and my son is asleep getting ready for fireworks. The rest of my family is...uninvolved.

I had to lay down with my son to get him to go out and Shaolin beat me to a pristine DogFather at the BF Exchange...good score!

Well I batoned through some extremely thick knotty oak today with my DFCG and have dicided what is needed to make a better DF.
A thicker res-C handle, the thing just is to uncomfortable to baton hard wood with and it doesnt absorb much shock.
A longer blade thats flat ground and thicker.
No thumb ramp.

My hand hurts, my ash was better at absorbing shock then the DF.

I'd imagine the ASH would be better at batoning because it has a shorter blade as well as a larger handle, i.e. better control, but at chopping, I think it's hands down the DF.

It's about 10pm here and fireworks are going off everywhere!
