I bought a 22-inch version 10/22 a while back (it's a Wal-Mart exclusive). Then I installed a couple Volquartsen mods, their Auto Bolt Release and Extended Magazine Release, plus I added a scope and sling. After that, I bought several Butler Creek Steel LipsŪ High-Capacity Magazines (it's worth the extra money to buy Steel Lips instead of Hot Lips). I spent more than I should have for the scope, but I highly recommend those Volquartsen mods.

I'm rather unhappy with my city government today. The city council passed a "city trash can ordinance" earlier this year; it requires all residents to buy specific types of trash cans that have a bar that new trucks latch onto with a lifting arm rather than someone manually lifting the can to empty it. The city sells 48- and 96-gallon trash cans for $60. The ordinance also assesses fines if someone refuses to obtain the correct type of can.

My garbage wasn't picked up this week, I assume because I don't have one of their special cans yet. There's nothing wrong with the can I'm currently using -- I just bought it a couple years ago and it still looks practically new. I still even have the old garbage can from before that one -- it was just round, so tended to blow across the yard in high winds, so I wanted a nice rectangular one on wheels where the lid stays attached to the can.

So, now I'll have two perfectly serviceable garbage cans laying in my yard that I can't use, in addition to having to shell out $60 for a new one. If I spray paint "Yard Waste" on the old ones, I can use them for leaves and sticks, but not for garbage. It seems like every time the city decides to do something, it costs me money, but I get no additional services for that money.

anybody do any preps in case of roiting after the elections? I didn't do nearly as much as I wanted to but I did add the Crash Rat to my normal EDC(everything I need for 2-3 days fairly uncomfortable but dry and fed). I work in an urban slum area so I wasn't sure what might happen. I would have felt pretty comfortable at home but it was wierd being at work last night. Not nearly as secure feeling.

dark - I'm sure lots of folks felt the same as you, considering how riots break out over stupid things such as sports teams performance, etc. If you google "election day riots" you will find that you certainly were not alone in your concerns. If I lived in an urban/suburban area I would have been more vigilant, but as I live in the boonies I was not overly concerned.

I'd like to move out into the country and get some land eventually, but I'm still single so for now I'd rather be where the most single women are hehe

My town introduced those cans awhile back. They gave each household 2 of those for free tho...

I don't know how laws are regarding owning property in the states, but here in Canada I live in one province with property, and own land in another province as well. When I lived in New Brunswick I stumbled across a deal and bought 24.7 acres of prime untouched land for $11,000 CAD. It's got plenty of wildlife, and is only a 30 minute drive to the closest large town... Saint John. I got posted to Ontario, and bought a house there. I pay taxes on both of course, but their pretty neglible on the NB property, because no alterations have been made to the land... not even a dirt road. I think last year I paid about $200 CAD in taxes on it; I'll have to double check that. My cousin and I hunt on it, especially when I visit the family during the Christmas break.

Plan for the future my man; if you see a deal, take it; most banks (in Canada at least) are more than willing to provide a loan on land purchases, because they know they win either way. You buy and pay them, they make interest. You buy and don't pay, they get the land and sell it at a profit to someone else. Land doesn't get cheaper; after all, it's the one thing that they're not making any more of! LOL!
