I need to break off to grab a bite. Mom is going to drop off her Century (and a pile o' cash) and to pick up the '06 Impala. The finance guy's numbers didn't match up what we calculated payments should be, so she's not going to do financing. Against my recommendation, she is buying a $1700 extended warranty (which I think I'll suggest she pay 20% down and 12 equal 0% monthly payments for the remainder, which they offered). Anyway, she wants me to lurk menacingly so that she's perhaps less likely to be taken advantage of, so I need to get ready.

I do wonder if I should have just gotten 1 of the LE NMSFNO's instead of 2xCG's

Jim agree with you on the kydex sheaths from the Yard.

Anybody have any grievances with the DF's kydex sheath? Are they made to different quality or made by a different person versus the more modern kydex? Because personally my DF scrapper kydex sheath has been working just fine. I really only would have made two changes to it and they are more utilitarian than quality-control related...

Hey darkether,

Congrats on making JYD!

When it comes to kydex sheaths I have them from just about all of the big makers(Okuden,Buy Brown,Sharpshooter, Mashed Cat, On/Scene Tactical, Rainwalker), as well as some very nice ones made by individuals. I can honestly say that they all make great sheaths, but, I do prefer the sheaths made by Rainwalker. It's hard to explain, but you can just feel the little differences and touches that Jeff(Rainwalker) puts into his work. He is one of the few people out there who seems to really enjoy what he's doing, and he listens to the customer instead of giving you a predetermined generic product. It's as if all of his sheaths are custom pieces but at the same price as a standard sheath. I highly recommend him.

Rainwalker's leather work is absolutely off the chart as well!

I think I'll be getting with Jeff shortly for a few things, most excitingly my Ruck and AK. I kinda want to have some gross idea what I want before I get with him though.

I'm pretty sure that I bought a couple of the DF kydex sheaths, but haven't even opened them because of poor experience with the Mutt-sized ones. I thought I'd learn more about how to soften them with heat before I tried. I recall that somebody posted a hair drier was enough to soften them, but I expected to need at least a heat gun. Since I don't actually carry any of my Dog Fathers, there hasn't been much urgency. I bought a large number of the 10-inch nylon sheaths, and have been satisfied with them.

WooHoo! I just sent in my request for the Busse Custom Shop! Hopefully Jerry will be cool with it It's going to kill me waiting for a response. Though I guess not nearly as bad as waiting for the blade if he agrees to make it. Wish me luck!
