Oddly enough, in Vermont you don't even need a permit for concealed carry. Or maybe that was New Hampshire. Somewhere way up there. That's Vermont. NH has a "shall issue" policy, so as long as you're not a raving lunatic then the permit is easy to get. NH also allows unrestricted open carry of sidearms, though from what I've heard, this is not a feature most police are familiar with. So if you try it, be polite and well versed in applicable laws.

It is interesting to see the geographical split on this for me....it is suprising the next door State to New York has one of the most liberal outlooks on firearms carry....perhaps because the laws never stopped the gun carrying criminals in NY from paying a visit...I am seriously wanting to move to the US if family commitments allow...and working out which States are the best for shooting is key to why I want to emmigrate.
Range proximity for long range rifle shooting and the ability to shoot all year round favours Tennesse...there is Camp Butner and Hawks Ridge all commutable if you locate in the right area. What is Tennesse like on Gun Laws? Handy for Knob Creek as well....that is a great show for getting a good range of knives if it stays as good as this year.

Tennessee is a great State, except for Memphis. No income tax, either. I have many kin there. Both of my parents were born there. Check with Rainwalker on the gun laws. He lives there.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I think it's a fairly relevant fact that the states most affected by Super-Urban Sprawl have the worst gun laws. Vermont's population is only in the 700,000's, if memory serves. Beautiful rolling green hills, lots of agriculture.
It's also a depressing fact that simply because of the way cities work, the minority land area ends up controlling the majority land area, because the cities have the majority population. Northern and western New York are totally different places than the southeast, but since NYC is where most of the people are...
Blah. It's all absurd. That's all I have to say.

I had a hunting buddy from "upstate" NY. He was as country as anyone from Georgia. It is sad that the large urban areas tend to dominate the politics of some States. There is some beautiful country up in NY.

I lived in NYC for a number of years...It is a perfect example of how the local police goes above the law. There is no 2nd amendment there. Took me 7 months and $450.00+. 7 trips to the police department for application/interview/more paperwork/more interviews/references to get a license just to keep firearms in the house. Additional $200.00 EVERY YEAR thereafter just to maintain said license. Don't even think about getting a carry permit if you don't have anywhere north of a billion dollars.

where do you guys get your tool steel bars? I get mine from McMaster. Alpha Knife Supply looks to have good deals though I can't speak for any of them as I have never bought from them.
