L. is not a total B. There were a lot of good reasons why I fell deeply in love with her, and the good that I saw in her is real, and still definitely a part of her. Unfortunately, she also has some issues (which I wasn't aware of, at the time).

I guess you could say that she seems to have wrestled with her inner demons, and, for now, lost.
