That's a Pre-40 Centennial....VERY RARE!! It's actually probably worth more than the Kimber . The little Centennials are the absolute sweetest little revos on the planet! They are so easy to carry with no hammer, and their thin little 5-shot cylinders. The lock work in the early J-frame Smiths is heavenly too. This one has been massaged by Teddy Jacobson and has a double action trigger pull of 8.5 pounds and breaks like glass!

Nice lookin’ guns Tolly. I sometimes carry a hammerless .38. It’s a Taurus 85. When considering a new carry gun, I was thinking of one of those .357 airweights, but I decided I’d rather carry a .45. Here’s a pic of some of my carry choices. Actually, the Mustang is the only pistol I have that belongs to me. The other two belong to my family.

And, I better get off here and get to bed. Night guys!

I went to college in Abilene, TX. Ever go to the Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater? I've been there a few times. I caught and killed a rattlesnake while I was in Abilene at the park that was 3-4 feet long. My brother held him down with a stick and I picked him up with my bare hands. I used my CS Bushman to cut his head off while I held him. I ate some of the meat, kept his head, heart, and tail in a jar of alcohol, and I kept his skin which is on my wall.

Do you have a price range in mind? Are you looking for full length boots or low cut boots? Will you be using them for day hiking carrying light loads or for backpacking?

Yes Andy, I have been to the round up in Sweetwater several times. There is an even bigger one in a little town not far from me called Waurika, Oklahoma. Rattlesnake tastes very good if cooked properly and not over cooked.

tolly im a lightweight backpacking freak....i usually wear asics on the trail...but i was forced to buy the garmonts and they are low cut boots with suede upper and mesh ares for breathing. i use them for work now but my job kills all gear and my shoes are starting to go. i also suffer from high arches so once the arch goes im have sore feet and a sore back. the garmonts were $125 which is spendy for me since all my work stuff gets really used. i guess i need a good work boot but i need something light moreso than waterproof. i think i MIGHT just get more garmonts.....

man i wish i had known about this forum last year. this same time last year my ol lady and i quit our jobs and traversed the south. i wouldve met up with all you southern dogs....eating snake was one of my goals during out trip...never got too..

MC, I have a couple different pairs of the Vasque boots and mids and really like them. They have insoles that hold up very well. You should be able to find some in your price range. Maybe their Mantra XCRs, Catalyst Mid GTX XCRs, or Synergist GTX.
