So aside from the spydies I also got the g.i. tanto by cold steel.
It's a guilty pleasure. The blade is actually pretty nice. What I hate is the choil. If the blade went all the way to the handle this thing would be serious competition to some other blades out there. It is also one of the sharpest blades I have ever gotten. I can't wait to beat the crap out of it!

The damascus slide is going out to Ted Yost along with a Colt series 70 frame. It will be a full house custom with all the goodies. I have been on his waiting list for two years for this build and I am super excited. Ted is THE master 1911 builder, and his work is breath taking Heirloom Precision

Ted's stuff is supposed to be superb, I have read alot about him. Your Dad should be thrilled that is a stellar gift. For about a month I had a Wilson Combat and later on for about 2 months a Stryer Voight.

Really got into them right but had to move them along. One day I might actually get to keep something like that. In the mean time I will keep my eyes open for more deals.
