usually, i'm not a fan of machines where free weights can be used, but the smith definitely provides the ideal method for many exercises. i'd take it over the bowflex any day.

it's also great for teaching beginners about form.

a macho forum like this one, secure enough for the occasional group hug/love thread, has to have all the manly requisites.

I lift a little bit, usually about 5 days a week as of the past month or so. I'm still "skinny" but it is good for my health and I'm getting stronger. Dare I say...more manly .

I need to start doing a little bit of running again. Pretty good about hitting the bike but there is no substitute for the original.

Howdy CO, I just recently got an awesome deal on a Hoist PTS-ENS3 Dual Action Smith Cage Ensemble package for my wife. She absolutely loves it, and I must say, I like it too. This thing is very flexible by design and you can do all kinds of things with it. I also like the safety it provides her when she's working out alons. I'm still a free weight kind of guy and usually work out with a buddy or two around, but I must admit, I do like the Hoist Smith machine.

Yep !

Here are some comparison pics I did between a Rat-7 and one of my Ranger RD7s...
