I screwed up this weekend. I was spraying paint on the eaves of my shop and garage. The spray went through a few cracks and landed on my truck. Now, my red truck has flecks of gray paint all over it. Luckily, it's latex based paint so it should only last a year or so. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

I was painting a barn/shed out at the ranch one day. Had a gallon of latex paint up on the ladder, stong Texas winds blew the ladder over and when the paint spilled it was blown down the whole side of the truck. I hauled butt to town, the wind drying the paint to the quater wash. Most of it blasted off. I think my saving grace was the dirt on the truck kept the paint from sticking much.

LOL man it's good thing it was dirty

The body shops have a product that can get that off, I used it once with some pads on a friends car, was able to get spray paint off - won't go into detail just say it will work

not yet, but i will get one after i dry out my washed one....it might still work if i can let it dry real good.

What I've heard that works well is put it in a ziplock bag full of dry instant rice. It will pull the moisture out if it like a desiccant pack.

Well I shot the Glock 36 today, and I must admit that I was really impressed. The pistol fits my hand, reliable, and accurate. I think the 36 might become my summer carry piece.

I've been debating a 1911 or a G36. The 1911 is my favorite pistol design, but a G36 weighs less and is smaller for concealed carry... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

You got to ask yourself do you feel lucky punk...well do ya?

lol. Andy they make the 1911 in smaller sizes? What have you looked at? I am sure whatever you pick will be best suited for you taste.

i think andy already has a compact 1911. he wants the full package.

i say get the 1911. you're a large, young, uninviting target. concealed carry isn't that critical and you can manage with what you have if it is.

Glock 36 is a sweet .45 ACP and would be my choice. But I like poly guns.

Concealed capable and lighter are almost always benefits in my book. That way you have the choice of concealed or visible carry.

I have shot 1911's forever and had at least one since I was old enough to own a pistol. The compact 1911's just don't do it for me as they can be finicky on the ammo, mags, etc. The 1911 was not designed around a short slide. I tried a couple but could not rely my life on one. That is where the Glock 36 came into play--light, accurate, same number of rds as a compact 1911, and most important reliable. The G36 I picked up had about 400 rds on it prior to me and now has over 600 on it as of my one trip with it. I am going to run another 400 rds through it this week and if it continues the nice job it did yesterday it is my new carry piece.

I have a springfield armory 1911 that i LOVE! It's the most reliable 1911 I have ever shot.. It has never jammed on me as long as i shoot FMJs.. It's the GI model i think. I was told when i bought it to not shoot hollow points with it.. so i haven't. Is this typical of the GI model?

My brother has a Taurus that jams almost every other clip.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Okay, first of all, your brother's Taurus jams almost every other "Magazine", not "Clip". Now that we have our terminology corrected, we will delve further into the 1911 and it's unearned reputation for being finicky.

Two things, first of all, probably 90% of all function/feeding related problems with the 1911 can be traced back to the magazine, and not the pistol itself. Originally the pistol was designed to shoot only full metal jacket ammunition, therefor the magazine was to design to feed, you guessed it, full metal jacket bullets. Now, once the hollow point became the norm and the 1911 became a popular self defense/law enforcement handgun, something had to be done to make it feed hollow points. Now enter the tapered lip, gradual release magazine. These magazines released the round sooner so that it could start to climb the feed ramp as well as slide under the extractor sooner.

Okay, I just realized that for me to fully explain all of this it is going to take about an hour to type it out, so, if any of you are truly interested in it, and want to know how to buy a 1911, any 1911, and make it run, feel free to send me a PM with your email address and i'll get it all typed up for you and send it to whoever wants to read it.

Just a quick note to think about concerning 1911s and their function. We get into trouble when we stary from the original design. Order some Original mil-spec Colt 7-round tapered magazines with the dimpled follower and try them in your malfunctioning pistol. I think you will be happy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />! Checkmate also makes a tapered lip, dimpled follower magazine that will work well, and Virgil Tripps CobraMags are another design to try. Throw your Wilson 47Ds in the trash!!!
