Now let me get this straight, you can't own a Smitty 34 with a 4" brl but you can own a SBS? Yeah, there are rules for long guns that deal with barrel lengths and over all lengths. Attractive piece, that. I looked up "lapura" on the web, and there seem to be examples both with a stock, and others with just a bulbous hand grip. Don't know the name of that style. The ones with the stock actually look pretty practical; though in such a short (light) gun, I'm thinking 20 gauge is better than 12!

Canadian gun laws sounds about like American ones--they suck! American gun laws are pretty good compared to MOST of the civilized nations. Some states are better than others.

For a 22 rifle I think the 10/22s are really hard to beat for 99 percent of people. Heck, get a heavy barrel if you need it.
For pistols, the Buckmark Brownings and Ruger MKI and MKIIs are nice.
