I owned a 2-3/4-in bbl Ruger Security Six at one time, but didn't particularly like it. I didn't consider .38 Special to be adequate and full .357s were brutal in a gun that light. It was worse to shoot than my 7-1/2-in Redhawk with .44 Mags.

I'm moving this from my Knob Creek thread -- I don't think anyone looked at it since I posted last Thursday -- not that anyone needs to, but perhaps it was too off-topic for that thread: While not Bussekin, I just received a couple Bark River Clax knives. They appear to have been mis-boxed as red linen Micarta handled, which in this case was a good thing, because they were actually maroon. The first Clax I bought had maroon Micarta handles; I liked it a lot, enough that I asked if they could order another for me. Before it arrived, they had a sale, and a black Micarta Clax was priced about $50 less than the maroon I'd bought before, so I canceled that order and bought the black Clax instead. Monday night, their last two (both listed as red-handled) were clearance priced for just about $150 each after shipping, so even though I wasn't thrilled with the color, I couldn't resist. They just arrived and instead of looking like this (not my pictures; they're too nice): They looked like this, which is what I really wanted: They're a totally different type of knife than the Dog Father, and their handles are a bit wider than is optimal for me, but at 16-in OAL and 22-oz with a 10.5-in long, .275-in thick convex blade, they are serious choppers. I'm a little surprised that they didn't sell better, but I suppose they're not typical "Bark River" style, so weren't what their customer-base normally focus on, and with retail prices in the $250 range they needed support from that market.

Airlite is the Scandium frames, and Airweight is aluminum. Scandium is lighter but sendsa jolt through the arm like no other.

Nice looking blade. I can see some merit of the double side chopper. How long is the actual blade?

I'll check back later; I took this week as vacation, but have a couple things I want to get done. First, I want to take a run out to the grocery store and (if possible) load up on Starburst original flavor jellybeans for the rest of the year at post-Easter clearance prices. Second, I still need to do my taxes. A third is that I should mow the lawn today, but it rained all night and is still overcast and wet, so that may not happen today.

Thanks Mag, I like that blade style a lot (I also have a couple Foresters, which is similar, but one blade edge is blunted and it has a different style handle) -- the blade is 10.5 inches, and at 22-oz, it's no lightweight, but it's far lighter than it would have been without the massive fullers. For its size, the Clax is quite nimble. It's based on the Welsh Cled, same as the Smatchet was, but is also designed to chop like a hand ax, so Cled + ax = Clax.

how do we feel about the new 92? It still looks like a Beretta, thank goodness. Knowing Beretta, they have made improvements. They don't change things just to be trendy.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
