I have. I guess that it's easier to overlook how burdensome the tax system is when one simply declines to participate.

Notice how so many of B.O.'s people have "forgotten" to pay taxes?!!!? Those are high party officials who sacrifice daily for good of the people. They are the Vanguard of the Proletariat and should not be required to obey the petty laws designed for the bourgeoisie.

Did anyone attend a Tea Party today? I was going to attend one of the local ones at 5 tonight but got caught up at school and could not break away. Just wondering how it turned out across the nation.
I know the national news agencies were making a big deal of it this morning.

I resent even more that taxes have either gotten complex enough or the educational system is so broken down that an assumption seems to be made that people must have their taxes done by a pro. Both the Fed and State forms have lines for a paid preparer as well as a third-party representative for them to contact.
By the way, for any other last minute filers out there, I've been told that Post Offices are not staying open late this year. I know the post office here in OKC is staying open to midnight today. You would think the po would be staying late everywhere, but I guess not.

My taxes are simple and I did them online. My Dad spends a small fortune every quarter. Mine is not too bad, but I still have them done by someone else. IMJ, did I dream that you said your pop is a doctor, or did you post that somewhere? I know my f-i-l spends a smakk fortune too but he is a heat/air guy.

I've done them online before. Mine are fairly simple too -- I have one job and three bank accounts. I'm not self-employed, don't have high medical bills, or give away lots of money, or pay enough in mortgage interest to itemize. I do work in a different state (KY) than I live in (IN), which adds a little complexity to my state calculations, but not too much.
This year, my income went just over the limit to e-file free. That's another stupid thing -- they want me to pay in order to file online. So, instead of filling out forms in the way that they'll actually want to process them -- in a digital format -- my incentive is to send them paper, which they'll have to pay to have transcribed into a digital format. How much sense does that make? Once again, common sense goes out the window when government gets involved.

Both Palin and Biden were very poor intellectual specimens. Has the choice of Vice President become part of the Presidential health plan? DOH, funny though

Notice how so many of B.O.'s people have "forgotten" to pay taxes?!!!? I read an article today about the IRS saying that they go after those that don't pay their taxes because it is not fair to those who DO play by the rules. Really, like you mentioned what about politicians, what about movie stars, what about "powerful" people--is it fair they go after Joe the Plumber? But who said life is fair.
