HEY! i forgot to post this yesterday!

yesterday i was driving the 5 ton rig thru HEAVY traffic, when i noticed that traffic was suddenly stopping and horns were blaring. I, having a MUCH higher vantage point than most motorists, noticed an absolutely panic stricking furry hienz57 mutt dodging vehicles and trying to escape the mayhem of 6 lanes of traffic.

so i did what every good trucker does, slam the truck into INSTANT HALT MODE, set the blinky lights on and leap out of the cab. i had on my neon safety vest and i dodged cars and made people stop. One BMW driver was trying to push the dog aside using his bumper. I slammed my hand down on the hood of his car, pointed at him and yelled STOP! Scooped up the terrified mutt (god my back is sore, poochy was about 90lbs) and weaved my way thru traffic to the curb. Poochy was shaking but calmed down very quick as i patted him and held him tight to me.

The workers at an vehicle alignment shop nearby came out with a rope and some water. Poochy had a City tag, and the guys said they would take him to the SPCA.

I had to go, but on my way back home that night i stopped in. Poochy wagged his tail and licked my hand. The manager had been taking him out for walks every hour and the dog was calmed right down.

I do believe they found the owner afterwards too!

so there is a positive blurb on an otherwise crappy day yesterday! I have more respect and compassion for animals than i do humans.

Pretty good, sprained my left thumb but it isn't bad. You know how hard a 3 year old horse can pull?

Yes I actually do.

BM5, you are a good man. There is a special place for you when you take care of something like that.

I too, have more compasion for dogs than people--just mindset I guess

there is a local alley cat here, i call him Brownie because he looks like a brownie. He has the classic torn ears, fight scars, and street smarts that most feral cats have. NO one in the area has been able to get near him or pick him up. For some reason Brownie lets me pick him up and scratch his belly. when he sees me walking at night and clicking my tongue, he runs over to me. I've had this experience with a lot of wild and feral animals.

Yes I actually do.

Did I mention that today was also the first day that fella had a bridle on? To say he was unhappy would be an understatement. I am sure you understand.

i've had that experience with two not-so-feral animals. nice to have the favor of a creature without an agenda.
