EXTREMELY WELL! put a big glob of vasiline in a plastic bag, and a big handful of cotton balls. Squish it around so the cotton balls are evenly coated, then pack away in your pack.

to use, FLUFF up a cotton ball and use your firesteel. WHOOOSH! works VERY well in the rain and is often the only thing that lights inthe winds

^ just dont use too much, you basically want about a thumbnail sized chunk of PJ rubbed well EVENLY into the cotton. I carry abotu 30 - 40 of them in a sealed baggie, they compress down quite well. One or two and a pile of thin kindling and your good to go. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

Just for clarification, what is the recommended ratio of cotton balls to "thumb sized chunck of PJ?"

one cotton ball + 1 thumbnail sized glob of PJ. SEE PIC

So if your making a whole bunch, just scoop a handful of PJ, grab a big pile of cotton balls and start mashing it all together. It will compact down very quick
