One of the things I most enjoy about hanging around the Yard is the lack of pretentiousness that exists here. Perhaps it's because the Yard hasn't had time to develop a culture that thinks that the way it used to be is better than the way it is now. Perhaps it's because the affordability of the products produced here discourages elitism. Perhaps it's because Dan & Patti are welcoming to newcomers and participate actively in the chat rooms. Or perhaps it's because those who are attracted to this place are more interested in supporting each other than impressing each other.
Whatever it is, I like it here. And while I realize that everything changes, I hope I never get to the point of looking back wishing things were the way they used to be. I could not have said my own thoughts any better than that...... I feel the same way. The biggest reason I am here is that I feel at home already after a short time. I am not afraid to ask a question or even respectfully disagree with someone because I feel comfortable. I'm not here to impress anyone or to be impressed, or to boast or be boasted upon. I'm here to learn, have a good laugh, and be accepted. That's what a "family" does. I think it all starts with Dan and Patti. They have set the bar here, they participate here, and both truly seem to care about each and every one of us..... and to me that is worth a lot more than the cost of a knife anyday. -Tdog

Like a small gold coloured dog in jeans from the backside??
The price and quality of the knives attracts serious users (not poseurs or muppets). Dan and Patti being so intouch with us here helps keep us informed and breaks down any barriers- that helps everyone fit in. It's a great forum and with so many stalwarts posting regularly and the general nice attitude, it'd be difficult to forsee it go astray (plus the mostly sensible moderators keep things clean and friendly!) All in all a real oasis on the web!
