an asymmetrical grind can cut real nice. i wouldn't send it back over that. that discolored steel, however, could be a problem.

That is an easy thing to do when you're concentrating on the point and going slow. I have done it on some of mine, and I just buffed it out with no loss of sharpness that I could tell. I bet the knife is just fine.
