I love the sandpaper and mouse pad technique - it's pretty much foolproof if you take your time, and produces amazing convexed edges. I usually don't bother taking it to a mirror polish, as I like a little bit of teeth for slicing soft stuff like tomaters.

So I've got some trees and scrub in the back yard that could use some trimming, and a whole pile of new knives... what's a guy to do???
I wish I had sheaths for all of them, so it would be easier to deal with them in the yard. I placed two sheath orders this morning, and am waiting for a third quote before placing my last, so hopefully I'll have it covered soon.

I wish I had sheaths for all of them I have the same problem so I cut up cardboard boxes to make a taco and taped them up to seal them. Works pretty well as long as you remember to put the knife in with the spine facing the tape. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I'm trying to get some more sheaths, I got a bunch of nice leather ones at blade, but I need some for my big choppers like FBM, NMFBM, SOD and FSH.

B/C - do what I do - I make my own! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Get some leather ("leather scraps" on eBay is one source), measure, mark, and drill some small holes for the needle, and sew it up. Very basic, and not as pretty as the pros, but quite functional. I have even made sheaths for a couple of my Tramontina machetes, which will also fit my Rat Wakizashi when I get it. That is, until I make its own sheath for it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Great advice PK. I wanted to buy knives with the money I needed to spend on sheaths. Making your own sheaths is good stuff.
