I'm not sure what I will do today - my arms, chest, and abs are still sore from 5+ hours of hard chopping and clearing with an assortment of knives yesterday.

When you chop for 5 hours with a knife, you start to appreciate the efficiency of an axe <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Hey MM- check my post over on the board. Exactly what I was trying to point out. This steel can wear your [censored] out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />. Can you imagine when your Waki comes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />. And- for the older dogs even moreso. I think many on this board take fitness pretty serious which is a really good thing. Kudos on your Chopfest <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Actually, the waki is probably lighter than the killa z, and it's DEFINITELY better balanced, so it will be LESS of a workout than some of the abuse I was taking yesterday, especially considering the waki can be held with two hands.

I actually re-aggravated an old rock climbing injury during the chop fest. I tore the TFCC in my wrist a year or two ago and it's never quite healed right, and swinging that big ole kuk was rough on it.

I had an injury like that myself. A guy told me to wear a copper bracelet and I thought it was just bunk <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" />. I was having so much trouble that I took so bare copper and just bent it around my wrist. My skin turned green ( wash off easy) but after a couple weeks it worked <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!! Just an idea - cheap enough- mite give it a whirl. Hope it heals soon. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I would get a blister from chopping with the FBM, those handles can be rough on the hands.

I used gardening gloves, so blistering wasn't an issue - bruising, however....

I was definitely a fan of the smooth, hand shaped linen micarta handles of the NMSFNO. Much less painful than some of the rougher g10 and micarta handles I was using, that had a lot of texture carved into them.

Or a bigger knife or a sword <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Never use gloves when chopping, maybe if its cold and raining.
