Oh man, that is just so wrong when you filter it through my deviant point of view. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I guess I only partially agree with Evolute about "rules" of photography. On the one paw, art in general should not be bound by rules, constrained, limited, or directed into preconceived channels. On the other paw, the rules are usually around for a good reason, in that they are what's known to work in the majority of cases.

In other words it's good to know the "rules" as they are a useful scaffold to begin work from but you shouldn't have any hesitation about breaking them when you find that they are in your way.

The point of view that the so-called "rules of composition" are a myth. There's no substance to them. They are misconceived. Art doesn't work that way. They are unfortunate and counterproductive for those who try to employ them to create, or those who try to employ them to analyze, photography.

i tried telling my art teacher that.....fought her the entire semester. she tried to make art all technical. i told her it was expression. she was a sea hag.

Ha ha! Sea hag!

When I edit there are times when the director would ask me to make a cut longer or shorter... I would never ask them by "how many frames", I just went by feeling. This "felt" right, or this didn't.

There needs to be talent and technique, but art is feeling.

Had a good day here Mike, spent several hours on the bike cruising around. Was a nice break.

Spent 8 hours dragging a field yesterday to help a friend out.

What are you looking at for a jacket? Have you checked out the New Enough website? Great stuff at great prices there. All my gear came from them.

Lots of sword-craving on the forum lately. I would still rather have a falcata than a katana. Good weighty whacking stick!

i agree with certain rules....like to physically create art like learning paint strokes and good ways to hold your art medium. but when someone tells me i got a D on my line gluing because i didnt follow the artistic rules of having the eyes following a a certain path....no thanks. go find some other drone to make rule art.

I was excited you might be in my same industry...

But if you were a gigolo... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

That is essentially the point of view that this fellow espoused, before I won him over.

i ordered an ontario black wind katana this morning. shipped a few hours later, which is very nice. also lookin at a hanwei practical and possibly one other. throw in the two waki's on the way and i think i now qualify as a sword collector.

as for the jacket, it's the power trip mojave. i like revzilla lately. also looking for a cheap spare helmet for passengers.
