Almost real hamon and the Hanwei ninjato is straight where the Cheness is curved.
Just something else to consider. hanwei has a fake hamon? i may be mixin up swords, i've looked at a lot in a short time. as far as straight v curve, i'm open to either so it's not an issue.

Whatup Dogs! Yes, not an easy choice. I didn't think my katana was really sharp because the edge wasn't feeling razor-like. I read it had like an apple seed edge so I took it outside and grabbed an orange from a tree, threw it in the air and just barely bumped the orange with a not so strong swing. I thought nothing happened to the orange until I picked it up and saw what was the cleanest cut I had ever seen. It sliced it better than if I had used a cutting board. That's when I got scared and said "No more playtime with katana." It showed me what these things were originally created for. On a side note, anybody here watch community channel? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR9tS1f1f6k&feature=channel Yea dont want to find out how sharp it is the hard way.

The more expensive Hanwei has a real hamon. They acid etch one to make it look cooler. ![[Linked Image from runemasterstudios.com]](http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/think.gif)

you guys recommended the cheness, right? I did. The sword buyers guide gives the Hanwei a 3/5 and the Cheness a 4/5. I was a member when it first started. The Cheness performed better back then, I don't know if they rate the same today.

Just something else to consider. hanwei has a fake hamon? i may be mixin up swords, i've looked at a lot in a short time. as far as straight v curve, i'm open to either so it's not an issue. Hanwei differentially heat treats their swords using the clay method, so there is the possibility of a hamon, but to reduce cost, they often acid enhance the hamon to make it more prominent without all the costly polishing that it would take to really bring it out. Having said that, the hamon looks very cool (it does on my Hanwei waki at least!), and you're not sacrificing on performance or quality, so who cares. Honestly, I just needed a way in to the Death Chat, and that's the avenue I took. Forgive me, I'm not a snob.

I cut a watermelon in half (the long way) mid-air with a Hanwei katana.
That was the first and last thing I cut with it as well, Art.

Scary! I don't think people will understand that moment of fear until they do it themselves. It's not that one is careless, it's the ease and quickness at which such deeds are done. Champion of efficacy.

think the waki will do it out of the box the same way? the clan isn't quite famous for razor thin edges.
