In regard to camera offerings, that's not entirely true.
For example, my camera stayed the best 35 mm DSLR for 3.5 years.
Also, my camera does have features which I prefer, which are not available on the newer offerings.

I'm not sure which posts in which threads you're referring to.

Since sepia came up: random attack of old photograph. I happen to like a lot of the old fashions. Sorry if it's not anybody else's thing.

It sounds like i's really akin to some examples that I can think of within the computer industry quite a bit. As an example, when they come out with new processors/CPUs, it can often disrupt overclockers like myself, because either the processor has limitations that decrease the "tweakability" to get more MHz/$, or it loses stability with higher voltages etc. Same for motherboard - they lose BIOS functions that help techies tune them for optimized I/O to the components in order to have more mass appeal.

I'm not sure which posts in which threads you're referring to. Read "Neck knife ideas" followed by "I'm confused" and you will get a sense of what I am referring to.

I keep thinking I ought to buy a bigger heatsink and crank the multiplier on my E8400 processor. Apparently they have serious overclocking overhead. Some people have reported over 4ghz on the things; double their stock frequency.
Of course even without the overclock, my system's bottleneck is the Geforce 9600 in there, not the CPU. When I bought the parts, I made sure everything could do SLI, so theoretically I could drop another 9600 card in there and make it amazingly faster...

I just did, you naughty boy. I really am sorry. I actually was just trying to not be insensitive to the newcomer's question. I responded exactly the opposite way earlier this week, and received a note telling me to attempt to be nicer. Since there is no real SYK offering in this category, I figured I could help with the neck knife question. Well, if I get thrown out of the forums, it has been nice to chat with all of you

Some people have reported over 4ghz on the things; double their stock frequency. The e8400 is a made overclocker. A good heat sink is important, but you could probably increase the voltage only very slightly and get some fairly reasonable results. The real trick can often be the RAM timings. At the higher ends of overclocking, solid, stable RAM is just as important. In any event, when you push the limits, you can go through a lot of system lockups and BIOS resets while you are trying to find a stable level of performance. It can be tedious, but fun, too.
