Yeah but you put hours of work into yours. I don't think I should have to do that to get my 400 dollar NMSFNO to perform better than my 50 dollar Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie...

One of the things I like about Busse-kin is just the feel of them, when you hold a NMSFNO you know you are holding a masterpiece.

I don't know it when I'm holding mine - mine really feels like a dud.


Now, it may be that two minutes on my belt sander will make that sucker hair-popping sharp and it will become completely dominant, but I'm not exactly high on it in the condition it came from the factory.

I haven't had that sense of outright disappointment from any of the other Busse family companies - every swamp rat and scrap yard I own feels like a great knife as soon as I pick it up. The NMSFNO had the same feeling, until I actually used it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Well MustardMan, if you are super keen on getting rid of your NMSFNO you could send it to me for testing.

My NMSFNO out chopped all my other midsized choppers before I fully convexed the whole blade. Ater a full convex, it out chopped my M9LE. It did have a reprofiled convex edge, but so did the other 7" to 8" blades. You don't have to convex the whole blade, just give it a good convex edge. Then put it up against your heavy bowie. I can't say it will beat it, but I bet it is at least close.
