...get a Hookguard which is exactly the same as the Yardguard but with a bottleopener...

Bottleopener?? I'd definately have to use it for ninja-catching my enemy's blade during my weekly knife fights. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hiya,

Welcome to the forum!

My first Scrapyard is gonna be the Yardkeeper too. However, it makes a lot more sense to grab something from the shop as you will get a far better deal than on the used market.

Get the DFLE now and hunt around for your YK later. I think those two would make an excellent pair that would take care of practically any cutting job on the planet!

I much prefer the LE versions myself. If I had the scratch I'd be all over the DFLE but da knife shopping is over this year for me (I only just squeezed the YK in). ; )

Kwantum,

The Res-C is a great handle material, I love it.

The handle on the YK is very comfortable for me. It is 3/4" shorter than the handle on my S6 but not too small. Also, the YK handle is a bit beefier than the handle on the DM and feels better imho.
