I bought as many as I needed, for my own personal use.
Okay! so you don't really need more than one.....but, I WANTED more....Now I've got 1 to use and 1 to loose and 1 to give away.

I have been able to help out a few dogs by getting a few extras of some models in the past. Others have helped me in the same manner. In some cases it cost me a little more, in some cases not. It's a free and willing exchange either way. I'm not a greedy man, but I see no wrong doing by those who do make a little. My internet was down during this offering, and a fellow dog made a purchase for me. As it turned out, they were still available today when my service was restored, so I ordered another one. Sue me!
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

You are new here BH so you probably haven't seen the many postings on this, which is fine. The people who come here, learn the ways things are done here, and with the company(s), who take the time to find the best ways to get what they want, seem to get it.
The fact that Dan Busse gives us "ALL" such a good deal, on something he works very hard on (many bottles have been emptied) and doesn't limit us to the amount is such a rare and wonderful thing, we feel very lucky and fortunate.
Many of us can not afford other Busse products, or other quality knives, but Dan treats us to amazing tools that are useful, functional and very durable, so the demand is high, prices on the secondary market are higher, and people get more than they need but Dan still delivers (like every 2 weeks right?).
I think it really comes down to "supply and demand" and Scrapyard knives are in demand, for many reasons, you and us are here because of it. In any business you can't please everyone all the time. It's a free country, some things are good and easy, some not but Dan and Patti Busse are a very good thing, and I think they are doing it the best way they know how, and we feel very lucky to be here...

Buffalohump,
I for one have used the secondary market to my advantage more than ones and I am VERY grateful that it exists!
If the wealthy knife knutz didn't buy and hoard some knives for later use as trade bait, sales,or gifts I'd not have couple of models.
Being on the leaner side of wealth there are times like you when I have NO chance of buying a model at release. ALL SCRAP YARD KNIVES sell out.
I know that, been here a while. Seen it from the start. The SS-4 is a great example. I missed it because I didn't have the gidas. Time moves on and about 7 months later my wife buys one from a forum member at cost! Brand new unused!!
What a coo for us eh? I love that knife and have in ensconced with leather and Python skin out of love and respect of it!
Without the kindness of a multiple purchaser I would NEVER own a SS-4! And Lord knows it is on my hip 4 out of 7 days! I love the people who step up and save some for me later! God bless them ,free enterprise and sell it to me later when I can afford it please!! It works well for me. I hope you can see it serves a purpose Mark.
not everyone price gouges, facts be true few at all ever do! But I do NOT begrudge them a small profit for all their time and cash output! That would be rude on my part!
Here is hoping you too enjoy a Dog Father Limited Edition in the near future Mark. You sound like you would love it! They are the greatest!!
Peace.

if i had the money i would have like 4 DFLE's!
but really, is there any fair way to deal with this? no. so this, to me it seems kind of like theres no purpose for this thread, and we want to keep it friendly.
but here my opinion, people buy them,(even with intent to sell) they belong to them, they can do what they want with them, they chose to sell them.
sometimes i guess those people can be seen as jerks, but really, someone is going to get the knife, the knife is being sold to someone, just by a different means, its like all the people who didn't get to get one when they were released can now get one. it just costs more.
but like everyone says, taxes and all add up.

I thank you all for your input. Most of it has been extremely civil, and, as a relative newcomer to this corner of the knife world, I really appreciate that.
I have a YK LE on its way to me at the moment, and when it gets here I'm going to see if I think its worth the dough I spent (a bit more than the original release price, I'm sure).
I already have a Busse BATAC, which I was lucky enough to obtain at the normal selling price, and I like it a hellavu lot. If the SY is anything like it, I'm pretty sure I'll be hanging around to see what pops up in the store next.
I just wish these obviously fine knives were easier to get, direct from the manufacturer. But like you all say, that's just the way it is - like it or lump it.

Mark - I love my BATAC. I don't have a YKLE - I do have a Dumpster Mutt - the two are very different feeling - and compliment each other very well. I'm sure you'll love the YKLE. I'm predicting that we'll see some smaller Combat Grade (relatively inexpensive) stuff coming up.

Sometimes there are those of use who fall so madly in love with a knife that we want a second or a thrid as a backup. For me, this knife is the ratmandu, I already have one. However, once they are available again I'll pick up another one or two.

That's good to know.... I'd definitely like to give the DM CG or LE a try I was keen for a Leaner Meaner, but I don't know if my budget can handle too much Busse action Mark - I love my BATAC. Mark,
I have Busse tastes on a Scrap yard budget to sat the least. My ONLY Busse is a Game Warden I bought last summer. It was hard as heck to get a decent edge on! "I use a commercial sharpening machine for knives "
The Micarta handle seems small and IS very slippery! Cost over $215.00 delivered to my home.I'm sure Busse makes a Cadillac of a blade but I can't afford to shop around and find one.
ALL of my Scrap Yard knives are affordable and EVERY BIT AS TOUGH OR MORE!!!
My Scrap Yard Knives are my first choice EVERY day. I carry a blade on my neck, one in each front pocket and one and sometimes two on my belt. One is a art knife, one a custom folder, then anyones guess as the other three. but for sure one will be a Scrap yard Knife.
I am so sold on the RES-C handles I can't begin to say. I am in home and business cleaning and countless times I have opened commercial soaps and degreasers with a Scrap Yard Knife and soaked the handle. IT WILL NOT SLIP! Greatest stuff ever! Comfort when doing a 10 minuet chop on a 10 inch tree? No sores no blisters only comfort and no shock transmitted.
These Scrap Yard Knives are nutty! My Yard Keeper LE will ride today because of your incoming. I now need to feel it and use it today to refresh my memory of how good that 4" blade really is! Thick, tough, sharp as a razor and Res-C handle...got to get dressed now...feel naked!
Thanks for the input!
Peace.
