I'm going to support Unsub's theory, Ron!

I hope everything ends up being more of a scare than an expense.

Glad everyone is ok.

Might want to use a sick day to intercept that package!

That same thing happened to my 53 Chevy but it was in a flooed viaduct in Chicago. Sewer water was over the seats. Car ran though.

Good luck Jeeps...with your Jeep and your honey.

I bet it looks worse than it is! The biggest danger would have been to have the engine running when it submerged. Water in a combustion engine does less than pleasant things to connecting rods...

However make sure you change all the fluid including the diffs. You never know what would have seeped in through any vents.

If it started up and ran well then you are probably going to be ok!

Next time though a better/safer method is to tow it right out and home so you can disassemble and clean prior to starting.

Thanks for the kind words folks, even though this is all my own doing. There is a risk everytime I go out wheelin' and Sunday I got checked, finally . I am hopeful that all will be well with the motor since my Jeep is paid off and I don't really want another payment. I agree it's on the edge of acceptability for burrying a Jeep in water and I did only drive it 3 miles to a local garage. If the Jeep engine is ok and all I need to do is replace all of the fluids, then my wife will be cool with it. A snorkel may have helped a great deal.

One a side note, when I left in my dad's Jeep with him to get a phone signal to see if I could get towed out, I gave my wife (my mom was with her) my BOB with all of my emergency supplies. I also gave her 3 extra jackets and 3 blankets. When I came back about 45 minutes later, she had a fire going . I was pretty impressed since everything was soaking wet. She had to get out of the passenger side of my Jeep once I was stuck and that water was darn cold especially with the wind. She was soaked as much as I was. To top the day off, my new work phone dropped in the water in my Jeep tub on the ride out. Fortunately, it dried out over night and still works.

There was really no danger per se, but my concern was that it would start to rain while we were trying to get my Jeep out and we would not be able to get my dad's Jeep out either. The Jeep gods were with us in that it did not rain and as you guys said no one was hurt. Even a snapped tow rope can be dangerous in these situations. Live and learn. Needless to say, I am a bit river shy right about now.

I had my DM (and a Mora 2K) in my Bob, but I did not need them. It did not even dawn on me that my DM was in my BOB until I got home and went through everything. If things would have gone bad, I am sure it would have served me well.

When I called the recovery company's around, they were all "busy". Apparently someone drove off a cliff about 10 miles north of where I was at on the highway to Las Vegas so they needed the help more than I did. The town I was in was real small. Kind of one of those towns where everyone is related in some way shape or form.

Bummer jeeps. However, it may not ba all that bad. My grandmother drove her car right into the Gulf Of Mexico and completely submerged it. She got it towed and after a through disassembly and relubrication the car ran for quite sometime after that.

I keep a "OH S$%^ kit in my Truck just in case my 4wd doesn't cut it. So far I haven't had to use it, knock on wood. I'm glad to hear that you have one.

peace
Jerry

That really stinks! To bad you didn't have a snorkel on your jeep.

If you want........I could take that Dog Father off your hands for $150......help with the repair bills and keep the wife off your back.

What a guy Bramel . I am going to need the DFLE, because the next time I come to a river crossing, I am parking my Jeep and building a boat with the DFLE .
