how does the ktm ride?
It's kind of a love-hate relationship. It's vibey, eats rear tires and the basic maintenance is a pain in the butt. The performance more than makes up for it - I just wouldn't want one as my only ride. It stinks having to wait and wait for parts to come from Austria.

Unsub,
I just noticed you said you were looking at a Buell Ulysses. Most Buell dealers let you do test rides (unlike almost every Japanese dealer) if you've got a MC endorsement and sign a waiver.

Don't test ride the Buell unless you're ready to buy one! It's the most fun bike I've ever had, and it's practical too. Hydraulic lifters means no valve checks - ever! Belt drive means no chains to clean and replace, expensive shafts to break (cough...BMW...cough..), and no chain snatch. I've ridden over a thousand miles in a day on mine and it was pretty comfy. With the luggage, I've gone on week-long trips carrying everything I needed. It handles amazingly well too - that whole "Own the Corners" thing is more than just talk. I like my Ulysses so much that I sold my BMW RT sport-touring ride *and* my Honda VFR within a couple months of bringing my Ulysses home.

The fit and finish on the Buells was really good even compared to Hondas.
I love my 919 but there is so much gravel and back roads here something like the Ulysses would be perfect. I was also considering a Triumph Scrambler.

I also have an old 78 CB350 cafe racer that is almost done.
Mine is not as cool as this awesome CB750 though.

nothing wrong with the Gixxers ,they are popular for good reason. I always liked the 750GSXR. They seem a nice compromise between a 600 and a 1000. They weigh about 4 pounds more than a 600. I lucked out and got a HUGE GSXR 750 banner when the local dealer went belly up. It is about 8 feet long ,full colour and really thick plastic. Looks great in my garage.

Fatdoggie ,I love the adventure bikes. That is really the type of bike I should have got but there were not that many choices in 02. I even considered getting side pipes and spoked wheels and off road fenders for my 919. I have even taken it on motocross trails but it is geared so high I have to ride the clutch.

My Kawi KFX450 is awesome but I wish it were street legal. I wiould ride it all winter if it were. We got 15 CMs of snow last night so it would be quite a blast. Quads are street legal in Europe. You would think that with the price of gas and pollution they would want us to ride single person 450cc bikes instead of my 5 litre truck?

I love this kawi ,it has a ti exhaust ,aluminium frame ,reverse gear ,fuel injection and incredible adjustable shocks. Compared to my friends Raptor it is like a ferrari next to a old musclecar.

I may have to get an aluminium renthal bar for my 919 considering how much I dig the one on my 450.

wait your quad is a ferrari or his raptor is?
doesn't the raptor 900 do like over 110 or something crazy?
wait is there even a 900 or was it another number?
idk I used to want a quad, but I have come to the realization that I have no one to take me.

haha, yamadawg <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
my 225 dualsport is ok, I give it hell
it has a really touchy clutch though and had some eletric problems that I had to fix
the only problem I have with it is the fact that it is electric start only, and for a bike that I use to go hunting with is cold weather that is not good
so now I have to mod it more by adding a kickstart somehow <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />
