So I started with a swidge, false edge, but now she has a real edge up top. Next I want to drill a talon hole for a Dguard. The last thing will be some sort of finish,... paint like Duracoat? Cold Blue? I am undecided... anyone else ever mess with the finish on SR77. What did you use, and how did it come out? (mustard Patina? so many options, I am just looking for stain/rust protection, and a low key look). Thanks

The DFLE is looking good with the false edge, longer deeper and sharper though maybe?
Like the PBF on the bottom, wow!!!

Rather than drill in the talon hole have a look at Knifeguy's yard guard, he recontoured the choil and made it look much better!

I have used Duracoat on firearms, AR mags, a couple of knives and Kydex. It's works well on Kydex, pretty well on firearms but not too well on knives in my experience. Duracoat is essentially a coating from Sherwin Williams repackaged by Lauer as a firearms specific coating. It actually takes a bit of trial and error to learn how to use the coating effectively. After using it for a couple of years, I setteled on Krylon spray paint. I like it better for knives and such because you will inevitably need to re apply whatever paint type coating you put on a knife that you use. Krylon is cheaper and is my preference.
Bottom line, I would opt for something other than Duracoat.

Swedge looks good! As much as I baton though, it wouldn't be for me...
I've done cold bluing on 5160 - turned out well. Never on SR77 though.

That swedge looks great. It really works with the DFLE. Certainly works for the fighter concept too.
I'm with Dice though, I like to baton too much when in the field. Besides I just couldn't bring myself to do any moding yet, I'm still enjoying playing with my DFLE the way it is.
How are you going to drill a Talon hole? That would be an interesting addition.
