I just finished saying how much I like that mod on the fighter thread.

I bought an extra DFLE just for modding. I plan to do a comp edge and possibly a sharpened clip like Ironballs. I would love to see a blued one. I would try a tiny spot and see how it works first. Blued knives especially bowies look awesome and slows down rust. Parking sucks compared to bluing and was only done because it was cheaper and could be done in big batches. My FS Dagger is a blued model which I much prefered to the polished ones.

I blued 2 different Enfield mags. One went perfect the other did not work at all.
My guess is one had to much chromium.

Well, I practiced my D-gard technique tonight... and am ready to work one onto the DFLE.. but man is this ting hardened. I am having a heck of a time pushing a drill through her to make the upper talon hole. (drill press, titanium bits, no luck yet)... But have some nice 550 cord on the way...

also, my Christmas present to myself, a leather strop for my 1x30 (I lost my other one?)... so hopefully in a few days, she will be drilled, braded, painted, and stropped...

Now, to drop RainWalker a line and see about a sheath.

I hope to have finished pics in a few days...

I use Cobalt drill bits to drill through unheat treated tool steel and blade steel. I'm not even sure if they'd work on heat treated SR-77 though.

Good luck on the drilling. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

How about a carbide impregnated drill bit or a diamond impregnated drill bit??

I was wondering about Diamond bits too. With a low RPM press they might work.

I tried to drill my yardguard with a carbide drill bit and no luck.
My idea was the D-guard setup too but I'm not sure we can get threw these heat treated SR77 blades. Someone let me know if they get threw one and how to do it.
