EW... welcome, and thanks for chiming in... very stand up of you to poke your head in now.

Good luck on the sale, I hope either you make a grip of $$ and or someone who will use it and love it gets a steal... somewhere in between likely.

btw, pp protection sucks. I recently got a door weight in a box rather than a supercharger. I disputed all charges, yelled fraud. The other guy never responded, and I got $200 refund which is the maximum of pp protection. Did me now good.

The last time I had a conflict, I was eventually able to get a refund through PayPal's Buyer Protection. However, it required several follow-ups after I filed the initial claim and took almost two months. Then, after I gave negative feedback to the seller (he changed the terms of the sale after the auction ended and even admitted that he didn't send the knife after I paid), he gave me a retaliatory negative feedback.

That site then said that they wouldn't do anything about the feedback, so I no longer have a 100% rating, and even though it's been over a year and I have 526 total positives from 389 different sellers, that one negative means I'll never have a 100% rating again.

I've heard through email correspondence with sellers that there are a lot of buyer scams out there, which is why I am understanding when sellers delay a bit before sending items to ensure payment clears. I also know that it's not necessarily fair to discriminate against new sellers. However, I feel like the problem that I've described above cost me at least $50 worth of time to get about $80 back, and it had a lasting impact on my reputation, so I'm more careful about who I buy from now.

Oh, I see. I didn't know the process was such a PIA to straighten out an auction gone bad. That's lame. Well if there was a for sale area here I would have just listed it. I bought my other two on the bladeforums, but you need to pay for a gold membership there, and I'm not really the seller type. We'll see how this new adventure in auctioning goes; hopefully its smooth and hassle free. Thanks for the warm welcome, I like this place. Have fun.

It sounds like you're a good seller, and I'm certainly not saying anything against you personally. I took a look at your knife and it appears you're doing pretty well -- especially considering that there's almost 5 days to go. A belated welcome to the yard to you.

There are problems with that auction site, fees are perhaps the most common complaint I've heard, but you get excellent exposure. You know about BladeForums, and Diceman mentioned the Kin Exchange (I see that bld522 also posted about it while I was composing this post). Your exposure on that group would be smaller, but well targeted for a Busse family knife. I haven't joined the Kin Exchange yet, mainly because I didn't know if enough people would join up to make it viable, but it's got over 150 members so I probably will.

I have 1,777 feedbacks. It really made me mad when the first person ruined my perfect feedback too undeservedly. eBay said they can’t edit the feedback because if someone wants to sue over defamation or something, they want the record as it was for proof or whatever. The feedback reply thing doesn’t give you enough room to explain that you didn’t deserve the feedback; you can only leave one sentence. So, I figured a way around it. I explain in the one sentence feedback reply that I didn’t deserve the feedback, and to see my “about me” page for more info about it. There I have a link that says:

Feedback Info
See an explanation of my less than perfect feedback here: Explanation of feedback that is not positive.

Then when they click that link, it’s an HTML document hosted on my webpage that I made in Word of what they said about me in the feedback, with my reply about the comment, and our emails back and forth so a potential buyer/seller will see that I didn’t deserve the feedback.

I don't like Ebay at all. I have had a few decent experiences with BF but mostly I do all my buying and selling on this little Canadian Gun Nutz website. It is a small community and everyone knows each other. All the Scrappers I sold was off the CGN exchange and you don't make quite as much money as you could with E-Bay
but there are some great deals as well. I got my Lambert custom ,FS Dagger
a 2 for one deal with an Emerson Commander and Chinook3 for the price of the Emerson and a Swamprat M6 with armoural sheath for 100$. I was also able to hook up a serving military member with a hard to find CF mag pouch for his FN FAL(or C1). It is nice to be part of a community much like here on the Yard. The guy who I bought the FS Dagger from turned around and used the cash(+ some of his own) to buy an original Thompson and saved it from being dewatted. It is also where Cold One ,Myself and several others learned about Scrapyard. We also like yanks to show up but we might get a little jealous. When that happens we send them to the mini shotties and M14 sections.

I haven't had any bad experiences on Ebay - I usually bid from people w/ 95% or higher - you've gotta figure that one jerk will give a low rating for something off the wall. Universal Cutlery has treated me VERY well (this past week), and they had less than perfect feedback. I got a Spyderco Manix from them - had an off center blade (when closed) - this would usually be a manufacturer/warranty issue, but they took care of me 100%.

I have picked up a few Vic's and a few machete's with no issues. I have heard some horror stories, but as with any transaction there will eventually someone that is pissed.

Oops I forgot to say high to Elijah ,welcome to the yard.

I usually buy one extra scrapper for sale or trades. A lot of people here in Canada don't like ordering from other countries even the US but are happy to get one from me. I also get a good deal on sheaths so I can sell them a knife and first rate sheath for pretty close to what they would have paid had they bought
it retail and then had a sheath made and still make some money. I try to only do deals where both people come out ahead. I have had several people buy more than one knife. I have no problem with reselling(obviously) but I do have some issues with some resellers.
