A thin-bladed fishing knife, thankfully -- i guess it can always be worse!!

Was this a knife fight or were you attacked, and if it was a fight what knife were you using?

unfortunately i didn't have a knife (note to self: bring knife to knife fight)... strange thing is it didn't even hurt (until later). i was most surprised by how fast i could run -- too bad no one was there with a stopwatch...

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

DId they both draw knives or was your friend the victim of a knife attack? What ever happened to, "And peace be with you .....and also with you"?

Ok, here’s what happened. We were highschool age. One of the girls from the HS class brought her new “boyfriend” to church as a visitor. (Boy can she pick ‘em…she’s a real prize herself, almost as screwed up as the BF) Anyway, turns out this guy was some kinda heavy druggie using loser. My friends noticed bad scars all over his arms, and he said he would get so high he couldn’t feel anything, then let a mean wild dog bite him for “fun”. He had…issues. Friend #2 is a shorter, overweight, weak person with little to no fighting/self defense experience. Friend #1 is like me, and has a lot of fighting/defense experience.

I believe it was after the HS class got out, and the HS age kids were scattered about the building. I was downstairs, everything happened upstairs. What happened was friend #2 was being his typical smart-mouth self, and said something to the BF that made him mad. It wasn’t anything that big a deal, but like I said, this guy wasn’t stable, and I’m guessing he was on something at the time. Anyway he pulls out a knife and comes at friend #2. Of course this scares the $h!t out of #2 because he knows he’s screwed and doesn’t know how to fight. Friend #1 gets between, pulls his own knife and tells the guy to back off. Friend #2 goes running to get me for backup, since he knows I’m armed, know how to fight, and I’m twice the size of anyone else involved. The BF swings at friend #1 a few times and manages to cut his leg. #1 tried only to defend himself and keep him back, and didn’t attack back although he could have killed him if he wanted.

By the time I got there, everything was over. I believe they called the cops. My friend didn’t press charges or anything. It wasn’t too bad, but bad enough he has a scar from it. The church elders told the BF he was banned and couldn’t come back. I think they put a restraining order or something on him to keep him away.

Yeah, we’ve had quite a few adventures at church…we also got in trouble in HS for sneaking in after hours and using our rappelling gear to rappell off the balcony. Good times, good times.

That's what I am trying to get at....not to belittle your experience or anything, but you were the victim of a knife attack...and not in a "knife fight",there really isn't a need for the catch...IMO. How many people can say,"I am a knife fighter and that is the best thing for a knife to have!" Only the fat man from Cold steel is likely to use it...cause he is so [censored] hard! I just feel it is not essential to making the MoJo a badass knife. How many folks are going to be carrying a blade like this to the bar or somewhere else a "knife fight" is likely to occur?

Yeah, I would be much more likely to use it as a bottle opener. But I would like it on there, cause it's always nice for a tool to be able to do extra functions.

I would guess these were EDC also, and not large fixed blade knives....I mean who packs their BR to go to church?

I am not even going to get into my feelings about what I feel your friend should have done.....

Looks like the blade catcher can be used as a cap lifter/bottle opener. That's a plus for me.

Hey, to each his own! I think the catch takes away from the flow of the knife. And I will use my keychain to open my beers.

Yeah, both people had "tactical" style folders I believe.

GF - I have to agree with you, the catch does take away from the "flow". However, to each his own. Incidentally, I carry my Cold Steel X2 Voyager everywhere I go. I only had to pull it about an inch or so out of my pocket before a rather large rough looking fellow decided to look for an easier target. It pays to be prepared! Tom
