you really learn to appreciate these things more when you see them, i grew up in trenton and when I moved to the house I'm in now (right on the delaware river) I was so amazed to see rabbits and groundhogs in my yard.
now across the river is a huge dump that gets bigger and bigger each day.

Vic, Those are amazing photos!!!!! Thank you so much!
When you had mentioned the development I felt sick to hear that as this area should never be lost to the destructive forces of man. We are the worst animal to walk this planet and we have a need to destroy everything in our wake! I for one am tired of seeing things like this disappear. Your photos will unfortunately become a time capsule to show what the area looked like before the tourists took over.
Thank you again for posting these!

Thank you again for posting these! Dan, we may be the worst animal to walk the planet, but we have the potential to be the best. I remain ever hopeful that we will preserve nature and understand our place in it all. I sincerely hope that these areas will be preserved for future generations. I hope greed loses this one. Either way, I wanted a record for posterity.

They are preserved for the moment but many want to buy a section here while give another to the forest preserve...... Somewhere else! And alway further away.... What will happen when there is no more to give? Thank God that this has not really happened yet.... But there is always talk.

It is on Jekyll Island. It's a barrier island on the Georgia coast. There are big development plans for the island, so I wanted to hike those forests again before they are paved and high-rise hotels and amusement parks go in. It's such a shame, that people need to destroy these wilderness places. At the rate they develop the wild....there won't be anything left to see, for my childrens, children. Canadians still vacation here for some reason, though. I just hope the new devlopment is "green" and not destructive to the natural areas. I want others to enjoy this beautiful place. I just don't want another Hilton Head, South Carolina. I used to camp there as a boy scout. Now I can't even afford to go there. we canadians are astrange breed everyone knows that
