I have the carbon V thrower and it was my favorite hard use knife until I got my SS4. Ranger makes a thrower that has had good reviews as well. CS does not make their throwers out of Carbon V anymore. The 1055 they do use is good stuff but not the great deal the Carbon V was especially as all the other carbon V knives were about 5 times the price of the thrower. You are pretty much stuck with a cord wrapped handle as every other handle will break if you throw it. I have thrown my SS4 but when it hit handle first it bounced like a superball and nearly took my eye out.

I'm pretty good at sticking Ka-Bars, bayonets, and machetes. I never found a throwing knife that I liked. They are all too light and too short. I have broken eveything from Ka-Bars to a Gerber Mark II by throwing them. I have a Cold Steel thrower that isn't too bad, but I can stick a machete easier. Maybe its because I use the blade hold, I don't know. The knife has to turn 180 deg from my release to the target. Somehow I can sense that better with a big knife.
It hits harder, too.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Iam hunting for the ideal piece of steel at the moment like yourself I have always found most throwers too short so I plan to make a monster!and see what I can destroy with it
I will have fun making it hopefully not lose any fingers and then test it to destruction 'cause I'm a 36year old juvenile delinquent

Have you seen the Airborne Ranger from Ranger Knives? It looks promising.

H/D - I also have a CS thrower, and I guess it's not bad. I just don't get into throwing knives much. Tom <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Bigger is better! Even the handle would hurt if it hit you hard. Very nice blade. Is that a Busse Battle Mistress? I'm still not that familiar with Busse Knives.

Now THAT'S a knife! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Although I could not see myself throwing a knife like a Battle Mistress, it looks like you have really enjoyed it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Tom
