A 7" would sell like sh*t off a shovel , it was totally down to the YardGuard being a re-curve that slowed it's sales !!!
It's like the Kershaw Zero Tolerance folders, they are built like tanks and would be great knives but I can't stand those crazy re-curves !
I'm not the best in the world at sharpening any knives but when it comes to re-curves forget it !!!!

I'd still like something bigger; I'll probably never get my Scrap Yard Cutlass, but what about a combat machete/sword, similar to (but of course not the same as) the Predator Machete designed by Jack Crain? I've read about problems ordering from him, so aside from the nearly $2K price tag and lot liking the grip on his design, I'd never buy one from him. The Maxam Brave Heart Sword [model SKBHSWORD] is a cheap knockoff, made of unidentified stainless "finest materials"; I bought one just because it looked right, but I'd never trust it (despite the Limited lifetime warranty).

I'd really like a similar style S7 monster, although I'm not sure how much demand there'd be. I thought DFLEs would sell out in a heartbeat. After they didn't, I expected YKCGs to linger for at least as long, but they didn't last an hour.

Not taking into account the relative number of units produced (because I don't have a clue), then the biggest factors affecting DF sales would have been it's price and that it was released near Christmas, when money was tight for many. YKCG demand may have benefited from Dogs who passed on on the DF feeling like they had to "catch up", but a big factor was probably that it cost less than half as much as a DFLE. I'm confident that a blade twice the size of a DF would at least approach $300, which would certainly impact sales.

I too would eventually like to see a big SR77 blade.

No hurry though, but an AK-47 like Scrapper would be SWEET!

Maybe it could be named the "Heinz 57".

S7 in tan and sage for me.. Clip or 'weiller point, either will get bought. I liked the look of the yard-guard but I don't do recurves. I can't sharpen them effectively and a dull knife is about as much use as a rubber spanner!

Sorry all, I still don't get the hatred thing of a recurve blade.

I love the size and feel of my Hook and the fact that it has a wiggle in it won't stop me from cutting, chopping,or sawing anything with it.

Because it has a straight drop point shape over a recurve to me is moot.

I love all blade shapes and as long as it cuts like I want and dosen't look like a Mall Ninja blade I am all over it.

Camp Tramp? It's a S-6 with a inch longer cutting edge right Bruce?

I own quite a few knives of all shapes and lengths, but I have NEVER owned every inch length by a single manufactuer.I think Ontario is the closest thing to a inch by inch blade offering. I could NEVER justify owning every inch length for any reason. The right knife for the right job I know... but well you understand don't you?

I guess I will never understand the distain of a recurve blade. I feel like I can do the same job with a drop point as a clip point as a recurve.

I am odd I guess, and I will never understand it I must boil down to cosmetics. I just want the Scrap Yard steel... I will use what ever Dan makes. I will always find a reason to own one as I feel that SYKC blades are the best value in the planet.

If you all need a drop point 7 inch blade by all that's Holy I pray Dan makes it! Me.... I keep my prayers in a 3 inch offering, skelly or drop point no problem with either! It's just that stupid three inch open carry law in Wisconsin makes the ONLY legal blade I own by the "Family" a Game Warden.

I want to wear my Scrap Yard!!!

Peace.

I think its not just the recurve that makes the yard hook so unpopular, its more like... everyone loves the s6, and everyone wants the s7! everything about it, its perfect in every way, and people want a longer version, its not about having a seven inch blade, its about having an s7.
well thats what I got from it.
thats also my opinion, I've heard such good things about the s6, that i really want the s7.

idk if that makes sense to you guys, but thats just what I got from it.

Bruce I feel the same way about every Scrap Yard Knife I own. I would stake my life,my brides life and yes even my childrens life on any one of them. They are so superior in every way.I think the smallest would be the 4 inch variety.

Any smaller and I'd doubt depth of penetration for a quick kill.

The Hook if so fast in the hand it is a obvious choice. The seven inch length gives just enough reach in a crisis situation. The thickness is what give it my life staking ability! They are bulletproof, period.

Dans blades are the first ones I have ever dared to say such a statement about. I feel that confident in them in every way.

My only Busse a Game Warden...only bought because Dan won't make my three inch blade for me.

The only Swamp Rat blade I own is a Gen 1 HR in Res-C It is a great knife but I never carry it.
Thin as it is it is perfect for kitchen tasks and food prep.

The entire line of Scrap Yard Knife Companys blades has a thickness that gives me that over the top protection feeling.Dans test of the Dog Father is etched into my mind as if I conducted the test myself. What a brute. And comes back to true after a 4 foot bend.

So far as the perfect SYKC blade that should be a new thread with a poll...Bruce....you pollster you!

Why the length and shapes, and what varient of your PERFECT SYKC dream knife.

I already own mine.

The Dog Father Limited Edition.

Not only the perfect chopper, camp knife, shreader, fighter, axe, and digging tool but MINE has a place in my memory and my heart that NO KNIFE I ever owned or will own again can come close to.Mine is dripping in Yard love.

A love and bond as deep as a marridge. I treasure it above all others.
