Implume,I'm with you on that "Saftey" feature!
The fact that it is just under $400.00 is a bit much for a 22 in my home, so I think I'll make the used gun shows here in Wisconsin in spring and see what I turn up.
That Mark 2 and the 1911 clone are my first choice so far.
Peace.

PoP, the CZ Kadet is a CZ75 in .22 LR. Yopu simply cannot get better than a .22 CZ75. It is an actual combat gun, but in .22. I have the .22 Kadet conversion kit for my CZ&%, it runs flawlessly.
The Walther mosquito is cool. We were looking at it a few nights ago.
The Ruger bull barrel .22's are also a nice deal. My best buddy has one.

The Sig is fantastic for the price. The Ruger is a classic but the CZ75 would be my first choice unless I got a used Ruger at a good price. A .22 is a better self defence gun than most people think. It also will not endanger your family by going through walls.
Isn't there a psalm in the bible about "if you don't have a sword ,sell you cloak and buy one"? That might help with the missus?

Roo, I choked on 400 bucks...that CZ Cadet is 600 bucks, almost got diarrhea from looking at a Gun that pricey!! I'll try flea markets and gun shuws first. Don't need Pepto for those prices! Peace.

I think the Sig is under 300$ and well made and very similar to their combat guns.
You could find a used 1911 clone and a .22 conversion kit. Then you would have both a cheap plinker and a classic American .45 for home defence while keeping to one gun.
I would also consider a 12 gauge pump as a much better home defence weapon than any handgun. A used Mossberg is only a couple hundred and is used by the army in Iraq.

Alright I'm a few days late on this, but why do you want a .22 pistol?
If I was only going to have one gun/pistol I'd want it to be a little bigger than .22 caliber.
But as far as a compact .22 pistol goes, how about North American Arms. They're compact, fairly inexpensive.

I agree with you Unsub, it's hard to beat a good 12 guage pump.

i just had this conversation with zero nine. when it comes to owning one gun for self defense there are only two numbers you need to know. four-five. i told him to go with a springfield xd. but if you're counting in the cost of ammo etc, buy a good 1911 and get the conversion kit for .22 that way you can plink and practice for cheap, and then put in the big boy barrell for making holes in more than just paper targets.

Hey again, I should repeat if you jumped in late "Jeff" the whole reason I am shooting for a 22 is to break Mama in s l o w l y to holding and shooting.
I want her to enjoy the lack of recoil, the tiny holes it will put in Coke cans in the backyard and the way our daughter enjoys shooting it as well. All are designed to build up confidence in her. To establish a foothold where firearms ain't killing machines of death! But can for a few pennies on a Sunday afternoon provide hours of plinking fun!
Then next year we will graduate...see the master plan.....
MUUHHAAAAAA!!!

I will admit the Ruger Mark series is a top choice 2x 10 round mags come with and it looks like a Luger which is way high in cool factor!
